Yeah I was there and we were ALL SHOCKED at what happened !!!!!!!!!!! It was across the ground from where I was sitting, but it appeared that two players were having a bit of a wrestle, no big deal ............. Next thing you know Carlos has thrown a punch and decked Cloke and then put the boot in while he was on the ground !!!!!!!!!!! Calros worked towards the group of supporters which were sitting near the interchange bench, and lets just say everyone was giving him a good serving. He then went straight into the change rooms.

Cloke WALKED off not too long after, went away for a bit and then reappeared with a fairly big shiner.

I can't say what caused the wrestle to turn into a punch, but the kick was a dogs act and I would be surprised if he ever played for Carlton again ............ Barry Hall had a brain snap against an opposition player in a H&A game, but to kick a team mate after you have knocked him out if just going unbelievable too far !!!!!!!!

Kicking to the torso does not mitigate the wrong at all. Just as much potential for life threatening damage in the torso, think liver, splien, kidneys, heart, lungs.....

It is pretty big news and did not take the HUN long. http://www.news.com.au/heraldsun/story/0,21985,25016016-661,00.html

What might also be a concern is Carrots injury, anyone got any news?

Agree wholeheatredly 30YB. Just following the story on here and the main board and this is the first mention of where the kick landed, so I questioned the cliam of "douls".

BTW the head would be 10 times more dangerous. Just ask Graham Polak or Cassius Clay or David Hookes.

Another thought just occured to me. Maybe Santa wants to go home. If this is the case surely there are better ways to go about it. Very dissappointing.

Still we dont know the entire story yet, benefit of the doubt, inocent until proven and all that, but it dont look good. The afls website would not publish a story such as this without it being pretty clear cut, and the HUN has the headline Ohailpin king hits team mate. King hit is pretty serious claim and only made when it is nigh on indisputable.

Are you implying he should be picking on someone his own size.
I wanted to say he likes sorting out dud ruckmen but I like Clokey so don't want to be cruel.

Only Kreuzer, Warnock and Hampson are taller than Setanta so his choices are limited I guess.

Disappointing. Even without knowing all the circumstances, that behavior is inexcusable. My gut feel is that Setanta is just frustrated with things. Combination of multiple issues including his brothers axing, and knowing that Ratten doesn't really have him as being essential in our medium-longer term plans. What has really struck me though, from day 1, is that he never seemed to get on that well with all his team-mates. His determination was often misdirected, and wouldn't listen to advice and took things way too seriously. Just not the right attitude. Being away from home didn't help, and Kennelly's recent departure has no doubt been on his mind. I suspect this is the end. Feel sorry for the guy, but he shouldn't be doing something that will just continue to frustrate him. Time to move on. :)

I fully realise that in saying that Setanta should be gone, I would be completely hypocritical if Chris Judd had smacked Clokey around and would not want a suspension of any kind.

We tend to only teach real lessons when the player is expendable.

get rid of him! the spirit around the club is awesome right now and he goes and does this, alwys been a liability to the team aswell..and bloody hell, carrots injured? how bad, anyone know?

also was walker anywhere to be seen?

If true, his temper is getting worse. Seems to have a liking for taking on undersized ruckmen as he had a shot at Ackland last year didn't he?

I really like Setanta as a heart and soul sort of player. However if his teammates don't get along with him, then his motivational abilities mean diddly squat.

He'll probably be depth for the year and on his bike after that.

Shame, I really wanted to win one of these tall athletic player gambles and Setanta, Aisake and Angwin have all bombed out for us.

nah that was Aisake...

piss poor effort by setanta reallly upset with this

That looks like a good hit.

From the positions of the players and the look on Clokes face it looks like he was hit with a right and a second hit coming from Santa's left.

I just cant believe this. Intra clubs this year are looking expensive to a few teams. Essendon have Walsh rushed to hospital with what looks a serious ankle, we have Carrots with what looks a serious elbow, and now this.

I wouldn't be surprised if Santa is on a flight to Ireland next week.

Ratts has described it (the kicking) as a low act and that the club would decide on Setanta's fate later today.

Went on the HS website and was shocked to read the report. A punch is bad enough, but it's not unexpected in the heat of the moment, even if it is an intraclub match. A kick however, is going way overboard - particularly when the player is already down on the deck. As Ratten described it, a "low act".

That said, I think kicking him out is going too far. A suspension would be the right sanction, I think.

On another note, where the hell are the intra club match reports? Can't seem to see them anywhere?

I was there and pretty much in front of it.

What looked to be a bit of argy bargy, got serious.

From what i was told Cloke threw a punch but missed it because i was looking at the play (not knowing who threw the first one), then i saw Carlos rip a few and collected Cloke on the left eye. Saw Cloke later with a nice bruise and lump.

The wrestling and push and shove i dont have a problem with, though what Carlos did though the kick wasn't all that forceful, it was a serious dog act. Cloke was on the ground flat, obviously dazed by the hook to the eye, stood over him and Carlos gave him one to go one with. From my recollection, the kick was no harder than a little tap. Though as I said, DOG ACT!

Heard it will be on channel 7 and 9 tonight.
