Top end talent is nothing without your role players. Put it whichever way you want, but a top 6 team having 10 players in their best 22 under 25 years old is impressive.

Absolutely.

Also, a top 6 team can also have enough top end talent that when its firing on all cylinders it doesn't matter how many role players it has in its best 22 that are under 25.

The best Carlton team for many years.

A real flag threat in 2023/4/5

This year they have been pretty good for a young group, and will only improve with time.

A 'premiership window' is one of the biggest myths in football, it all relies on a durable game plan and smart drafting/recruiting. Geelong have been in their premiership window for 20 years.

It’s not a myth. Most teams have 3/4 years at their peak and then retirements/injuries kick in.

Geelong are an exception and while they have continually made the 8 they have also had periods in that time where they were never truly threatening.

Yeah in my lifetime watching footy Ive never witnessed a pies v blues final. Reckon it would go close to 100k

On SM-G925I using BigFooty.com mobile app

88 and 84 the only two finals since the 81 GF. Be a huge game if it happens.

Looks like cerra and walsh the only 2 under 25 players going into next year that are in your Top 10.

Your top end talent is in its prime.

geez, we certainly have plenty to work on but to critique the age profile of our list is really clutching at straws. here it is vs. geelong on the weekend.

very young side. is often in the top 3-4 for youngest each week. mckay and curnow haven't even filled out properly yet and they could both have colemans. weitering is young for a KPD.

the clock is ticking on cripps and docherty really, but even still - they are 2 & 3 years off 30. players often play good footy until about 32-33 these days. so not like they are about to retire.

also 25 is weird age to use as a yardstick, players 'peak' at 27 don't they?

nah, geelong are a different beast. they have certain benefits like a home ground advantage and a little go-home factor that they've monopolized, and credit to them for making it work.

richmond is a good example - won their 2017 flag in their absolute peak, then by 2021, the bulk of the players are 4 years older and past their peak, so the window closes.

if we are smart with list management there's no reason our window can't stay open while mckay, curnow and weitering are still playing good footy, which could be for another 6-7 years yet. walsh and cerra will be around for another decade as well.

Pies playing better footy at the moment but 5 weeks is a long time in footy

are they? you almost lost to north, adelaide and gws. 3 of the worst teams in the comp.

you're winning, but your form is hardly outstanding.

having said that you 100% deserve to be where you are, and i wouldn't be surprised if you go 2-0 against us this year.
