If you remember back some time ago, a whatsapp group of about 600 people were "exposed" by an online person becaues she thought it was in the public interest to expose the names of a group of people who were "scheming" against ABC journos etc for their non-favourable attitudes.

Albo responded by introducing legislation immediately to protect the so-called privacy of this group....

People were supposedly incensed by the invasion of privacy, but no one mentioned that 600 people were "conspiring" to put pressure on bodies like the ABC to present the news in a favourable light to this particular ethnic group...

I was just looking around the internet on a related matter and I stumbled about zionism victoria and its affiliates. Two things come to mind
1. I wonder what separates zionism from jewishness. Although I know about the long-held push to get jews back to palestine, but if you're only in a jewish non-zionist association, does that mean that you dont support israel and what it is doing? I hardly think not.

2. The other thing to come to mind is that there are 56 organisations that want to say that they are zionist. There's been a lot of crap about how a significant percentage of jewish australians dont support the current israel gov't, but I dont see the odd statement or the occasional joining with anti-war protesters as anything significant. A list of 56 organisations is far more persuasive to me.

If we want to reduce the whole of humanity into a series of binary choices between them and us , between red and blue, then the inevitable outcome is we pick our sides and go to war with each other. Which is apparently where we are heading.

I think you're giving too much credit to it being a coordinated thing.

Right now the incumbent Government is trying to get re-elected, so going too hard on Israel might cost them votes, especially since the US has a long-standing policy of supporting Israel irrespective of what they're doing. Harris has said plenty of things to suggest she's at least uncomfortable with what Netanyahu is doing.

Trump simply doesn't care at all what Israel are doing.

There's a nice window where the major western media are focusing on the US election, the US leadership is focused on the election, and Israel is doing a bit more slaughtering without too much scrutiny on them.
