Indeed a 'confident Saints fan' is a bit of an oxymoron!

Lets hope this will change eventually!

At this stage I'd say only three sides can win it, Saints, Geelong and Hawthorn. I'm far from writing Hawthorn off. The way the season is unfolding St Kilda and Geelong will probably finish 1 and 2, but spots 3 and 4 are wide open. Once Hawthorn hit their straps they'll probably finish in the top 4 and then its even money.

I doubt anyone else can do it though. Port are just a bit inexeprienced, Collingwood aren't up to it. Essendon have done well but I think they'll taper off and Carlton are still a year or two off.

Bulldogs are the side I'd pick to finish 4th but I cant see them winning the flag.

what's alarming is if St Kilda win tomorrow night as expected, then only 6 teams out of 16 will be above .500 for the season thus far.

in other words, more teams are losing rather than winning. a bit of a summation of the quality of opposition out there.

if this continues, than 9 or 10 wins could land a finals berth.
