Autopsy Its a wrap for 2023 Richmond by 13

Horse can go and get ****ed. This team no longer play for him. He made all the wrong decisions today. Francis as Sub. Mills back. Going totally defensive is a real problem. This is not a team you can do that with. He totally killed us tonight. Very bad coaching decisions. Add to that the fact he has no answer to another side's momentum except putting Mills, our biggest mid, back.

I think Horse is out of ideas and we need a new voice who can grow with our young group. One who recognizes the talent and how to best use it. Unfortunately, Horse is not getting the best of of our boys. Richmond are a very ordinary side and we made them look good in the last half. A back kicked 2 goals for ****'s sake when changed forward because stupid Horse did as he always does and put Mills back.

I believe Horse's time has come. Today we should have won. But after half time he had no answer for a Rookie Coach's moves. He made a huge mistake by making Francis sub.

Well and truly time to rest every player that has a niggle and switch to youth for anyone not playing next (or not expected to be top line next year).

For everyone who is fit and will play next year, start doing heavy training loads. Build their fitness for next year.

This year is a write off.

Midfield got pummelled in the 2nd half, Hopper, Tarranto, Prestia and Martin jsut doing as they pleased. Won it off their backs.

Yeah they just were powerful and clean. Our mods were reactive and fumbly.

Lot of whinging about the gameplan, but I don’t think it was a gameplan sort of night. Usually our answer to Richmond’s chaos is to maintain possession with marks, but that wasn’t really an option.

What would people have done differently?

Wouldn't be surprised if Blakey got corked in the second quarter when Pickett kicked at him as he was running past. Looked awful after that.

Hard to defend in the wet when your only small defender is KO'd (enjoy your break Nank) but why the **** was Francis sub.

Our defensive unit has been a problem all year and tonight was no different.

Everything else was passable until the last few minutes. Why rush a snap from 35 out in the wet bud?
Why didn't Jmac just punch it through to level the scores? Rampe not even finding a contest with his kick just straight to a defender, criminal. Let them absolutely steal it.

Need a busy off season.

We have had talls injured a lot this year

but tonight we arguably didnt need them with richmonds structure, would have made fox sub perhaps if you wanted a tall back up as he is apparently banned from defence (he did butcher it mind you) though I prefer a mid as sub- clarke , stephens, warner

and play another runner on the ground

Rampe is a worry

Look’s finished
I’m hoping he has just been rushed back. You’d hope so with a two year contract. I hate to say it but I think we perform better tonight with Francis in the 22 and Rampe as sub (not saying that this should be the case going forward).

Once they adapted to our strategy after the first quarter we gradually started to lose the more contested style the game turned in to. The rain didn't help the way we like to play either. Just thought they looked too big and strong in the contest and are much better running out of stoppage/contested ball with hands.

Parker puts his body on the line more than most, but his use is shit imo, yeah done it to death, but I want to be fair, he goes where others wont, thats the postive. But I think he needs less midfield time , season is done, use him forward more often

Incredibly disappointing. Started really well and didn’t adjust to the conditions. We were far too stagnant in the second half - bombing the ball down the line and not taking the short pass. I know it was wet but we lost all semblance of a game plan.
Too many goals scored from bad kicks - 2 from Gulden biting off too much
- 1 from Blakey. Could have had more with some absolute shockers
-1 from Francis.. scares me every time he kicks it. Good in a contested mark situation but think he should understand his limitations with ball in hand
- Florent also had an unusually poor night with ball in hand

Mills back was brain dead.
Tall as sub was another brain dead choice.
Going defensive from the third.
Not playing to conditions ie, over handballing when the ball is slick.

The turning point was when Horse moved Mills back as a spare in defence in the third. It seemed premature and put us into a defensive mindset. This allowed Richmond to get the ascendancy at the contest and keep it in their F50 as we could only aimlessly bomb it out of defence. I can only assume he did this in response to Lloyd's concussion but was so unnecessary.

We looked good in the 1Q with our ball movement but thereafter, our skill execution was poor. What was even more disappointing was our inability to stick a tackle and overall pressure. Nank and co just did what they liked after half time. Our on ballers just went to sleep.

Given how winnable this game was and what was at stake, tonight was very disappointing.
