Re: What is Maric Worth

Shallow draft schmallow draft.

Maric played 5 games and played second fiddle to Big Sauce this year - who the Crows got for picks 33 & 67.

What is he worth...? I would think a 3rd round pick should get the deal done.

However, with the threat of the PSD looming I honestly think we could snag him for a 4th round selection.

Re: What is Maric Worth

With Adelaide wanting over the odds for a 2nd rate ruckman that played 5 games this year.

What would you say he is worth?

Suggestions I'm reading so far are:

  • 3rd round pick
  • 4th round pick
  • 4th round pick + Nason
  • Straight swap for Connors
Realistically a 4th round pick should do it in a diluted draft.

Being an Echuca boy myself, I'd rather keep the Ranga in Connors.

Definitely the best option here for tigers

Re: Tigers to trade pick 14 for GWS pick 15 + Morris

- Ivan Maric - drafted at pick #40 in 2004
- 77 career games in 6 seasons.
- Played the majority of those games between 2008-2010.
Averaged around 10 disposals, 3 marks and 17 hitouts a game.

Angus Graham's last 3 years have been about the same with an average of around 19 hitouts game. So regardless of how good Maric is apparently as a tap ruckman he is not worth a compo pick, 2nd pick or even a 3rd pick. We should offer nason and our 4th pick or take him in pre-season or use our compo on someone better.

Apreantly he is very good in front of goal and Marks .. so thats a pluss from what we have

Re: What is Maric Worth

give them out of these players Nason, Thursfield, Browne or McGuane or just give them a 3rd round pick

Re: Tigers to trade pick 14 for GWS pick 15 + Morris

Sounds like a good deal tigers!!
Can anyone give a quick run down on Morris and what sort of player he is?

Also does anyone know why he wasn't picked up earlier? Injuries or just a late bloomer?

There are some footage links somewhere on the board here. He's a running back pocket type, but who seems to love a good physical contest as well.

Had a knee reco I think around the time he would've normally been drafted. May also be a case of a late bloomer at the same time. Has had a very good season for West Adelaide, a few raps for him coming out of there.
Clubs baulked at drafting because of the knee injury that DD just said.
Took a while to get over it and now in his early 20s showed what he is capable of for West Adelaide. Port was ultra keen on him and was going to offer their 2nd round pick for him, which meant we would have had to match it with our 2nd round to grab him.
By doing a deal with GSW, we basically get the player we want and slip from 14 to 15 in the draft.
He is a medium sized defender with some real grunt about him.

Re: What is Maric Worth

Worth pick 35
Would prefer a Connors trade

This is not a "What would you rather we pay for Maric?" thread....

Heavens we used pick 50 something in a much better draft last year to take X, who a year earlier was playing for Bunbury and hadn't rated a mention

Re: What is Maric Worth

Would prefer we keep 35 and offer even our third + Connors or just one of those. If Adelaide don't like it then risk PSD and if he doesn't get through not a huge loss.

Re: What is Maric Worth

3rd round at best.
Delusional them thinking they need a 1st rounder. If he's that good, then play the bloke FFS.

This is what i don't get. I guess it's similar to some of our own blokes who see Maric + late pick for Connors or Nason. We all must just over value our own players but I'm happy for a straight swap of players. If they're not getting a game here and have no influence on our current position and further direction then may as well move them on for something or someone we can use.

As for Maric, personally I value him at a straight swap of Connors or Nason or third round pick. At first third round pick was my preference but now I'm leaning more towards a straight player swap as if this Morris thing works out then we still have all our picks in place, plus the compo, and have plenty of currency still for a so-called big fish. I can't see the logic of paying too much or anything at all when we can just scoop him up for free in the PSD. Though might have to scare off the clubs before us with some coin.

Re: What is Maric Worth

Considering what Mumford and Jacobs went for who were clearly another level above Maric, i will be fewming if our second rounder is on the table.

Realistically Adelaide wont wan't pick 4, i think our best option is a straight swap with Connors gives both players a fresh start and im sure this is how the deal will end.

Firstly though test the waters if anyone is interested in Connors...

Re: What is Maric Worth

sorry for the intrusion but is he even an upgrade on graham and co ? he has struggled to get a game at the crows ... theres no way your recruiting department would offer anything more than a 2nd round pick surely. An honest ruck at his absolute best , you guys should not offer anything over your 3rd pick .

He's an upgrade but it's like upgrading a D grader to a C grader. Hardly anything earth shattering.

Only way Adelaide are getting their compo pick back is if they throw in Dangerfield and we give them pick 15 + compo + a player. :p

No intrusion mate :thumbsu: what you said is exactly what everyone has been saying since this first caught wind. The general consensus is a player swap, third round or we go PSD. If we lose him on PSD, at the end of the day we still have Gus.

With the way our recruiters dealt with Essendon for Houli last year and how we just obtained Morris (so we think so far according to media), I have the utmost confidence in them.

On current form definitely not an upgrade, a struggling ruck man

Kevin Sheahan believes this years draft runs deep

If that is the case don't waste pick...psd is way to go

As an Echuca boy myself I would rather they get rid of Connors before they wasted a draft pick on him to begin with.

Realistically Maric is worth a third round pick or a straight swap for Nason. If it turns out to be a straight swap for Connors that will suffice.

Re: What is Maric Worth

Now let me see, so a guy plays 3 games in a side that finishes third bottom and is kept out of the side by thee sam jacobs...yeah thats right not Polly farmer...at best a R3 selection, an arbitration commision could probably present a sound case for a R4 but we dont need to be insulting

He was pick 40 and couldn't get a game this year. Pick 35 is paying way over. No 50 is about his true worth and that is being generous.

Re: What is Maric Worth

Thursfield and Browne would have to have atleast 2nd round currency with them. Thursfield dominated when he played this year and Browne is still only 21.

We might as well take a established Ruckman then wait for a ruckman to develop in like 2-3 years and Thursfield he played alright but we already have enough Backman like Rance and Moore (Main KDB) and than back ups like Astbury, Post, Gourdis and McGuane ;)
