Like Mattner, a player I only wish the best for at a new club with more opportunities.:thumbsu: Can't wait until we play Richmond and the boys can give Ivan some friendly jumper punches, I'm sure he will love it.;)

Careful, we might dob :D

(jokes)

Cool thread, would read again :thumbsu:

Yeah good player, terrific work ethic, you couldn't not like the bloke. Hasn't ever really found a happy medium form-wise, going through long patches where he couldn't jump over a jam tin, before threatening to take the next step weeks later. Not atypical for a ruck. If he can find that level consistently as he moves into his prime years he'll probably be in the best six or so going around. Best of luck to him at the Tiges, he'll have his best years with them I'm sure. Good pick up.

Reading this makes me proud to be a crows man, great thread guys.
Although sad to see him go i reckon Ivan will thrive on a bit of responsibility and will surprise a few people. Also will instantly improve richmond by giving their classy mids a good look at it for a change. Think he is well suited to the tigers and really hope he has success with them, he deserves it. Looking forward to seeing him fire up for the only victorian team i'd ever cheer on. All the best Ivan.

What everyone else has said on here. Best of luck big man and I too hope you have a great career at the Tigers.

What a great heart warming thread. No doubt if the circumstances were different[Sub Rule]Maric would be a one club player and by the sounds of it he would have got a send off at the end of his career similar to the way we sent Richo off.
Well done to you guys and your footy club for the way you have treated the big man.:thumbsu:

I've been banned from the local supermarket. I'm all cried out.

Ivan truly deserves a great finish. Top bloke.

Same story here. I want "Evan" back:(:(:(

Best of luck, hope you have great success and fulfill your dreams with the Tigers:thumbsu:

Thanks Iv. One of the favourites over the last 5 years. Your passion, aggression and support of your team mates will be missed.:thumbsu:

If you have any mates over 200cm can you get them to call us as we are in the market for a ruckman.

Any chance of the club showing this thread to EEEEEVARRRNNN? Just so he knows he's welcome back if circumstances change in the future?

UpTheGuts is hoping to be his player sponsor next year and was hoping to get him onto it.
Alternatively we also have a Richmond official who posts on our board that could also direct him to it:thumbsu:

That would be great. I'm sure he'd get a buzz knowing that he's still got the AFC fans support. Hes a champion clubman and will give 100%. All the best eeeevvaaarrnn!

Hell, if the Richmond official wanted to create a little heartwarming article on the RichmondFC.com.au website they could do a little article quoting some of the "goodbye" posts saying how much Maric will be missed.

As long as they cited Bigfooty as the source I'm sure it would be fine.

On a side note Mckernan is going to become so important next year. Being able to fill in at both ends where we could be short and more importantly being able to play back up ruck is going to be crucial

I'll miss him a lot. I read a few Richmond fans on their board citing our collective good will for Ivan as being evidence that he's not a good player. This isn't true at all. Ivan is very handy, and we'd love to still have him on our list. He'd be a great backup to Jacobs, and can come in and play a role when Tippett is missing too. His best game of last season was when he replaced Kurt. The problem is that the interchange rules, coupled with us getting a good deal on a more complete player in Jacobs, meant that it's really hard to fit him in the side. He's definitely more versatile than Jacobs - some of his work up forward over the years has been very handy - but he's not going to break into the side as a KPP on a regular basis. He's a true ruckman, and he's good enough to be first ruck at an AFL club. He deserves to be playing games. Just not ahead of Jacobs or Tippett.

Ivan brings heart, team spirit, grunt, and a fierce competitive streak on to the ground with him whenever he plays. None of these things can be measured statistically, but they're all important to any team. He's never going to be a star, but he'll beat weaker opponents, and, more often than not, negate better ones. Every now and then, he'll do something you really won't expect from him, like that left footed snap goal against Essendon, or that huge hanger against the Saints a few years back, and it'll really lift the team.

Good luck, Ivan!

Linked the thread to RFC_Official just then and he usually responds to anything thats not related to the footy department.
Let you guys now if he gets to see it.

Just realised I hadn't posted anything in this thread yet.

Fantastic bloke who deserves to be the number 1 ruck at a club and it's upsetting to know that that won't be us. I can easily see him becoming a fan favourite with the Richmond faithful very soon. All the best for 2012 and beyond... just maybe not against us, yeah? :p

Byyyye Ivan!! :( Devastated that he's left & it makes me hate the sub rule even more  but I wish him all the luck in the world at Richmond & I hope the Tiger fans look after him

Some of you know I am not a big fan of the club but credit where it's due and respect for you guys with this thread.

Am really looking forward now to the family day next year to meet him having read this thread. :thumbsu:

If it means anything I told him, and he was expectantly humble and gracious about it. I think we have ourselves a winner here.
There you go guys, he has been told about your well wishes, not sure if he had a look though.

Haha, great to hear he saw this thread!:thumbsu:

Here he is in a Richmond guernsey for the first time.:(
