Vactican City is a country, if that's their custom and expectation, then so be it. It is a Monarchy with the Pope as their head.

100% no problems donning a headscarf in any country where it is their custom, whether that be the Middle East, Pakistan, Malaysia, Indonesia, Vatican City, where ever.

It's not custom in NZ and as the leader of that country, I just don't think she should have done it. If they had a male Prime Minister, what would have been the expectation on him? Take his shoes off which is what you do when you walk into a lot of peoples' homes anyway.

'You wear a hijab, I don't wear one, but we are still one and I'll stand with you. We are different but we are the same'
Nah, I don't have any issue with it.
If you read my post, it wasn't the country they wear a scarf for it is the Pope, which is actually worse in my mind than for a country or religion.

I recall years ago that I would wear a scarf in a Catholic and Orthodox Church (not a church goer, funerals, christening, weddings) and then it was changed, but some still wear it now.

Think you are trying to make an issue over nothing, showing a bit of unity/respect for an occasion doesn't hurt anybody.

I read your post, the Pope is the absolute ruler of that country, so no problem with wearing a scarf.

I'm not making an issue, just a personal observation.

Fair argument but the action is not going to be overly effective. The people who want to keep their guns will hide them, you don't need 20 guns to shoot a bunch of people. This wont make any difference in terms of overall safety, people who want them will still get them and mass shootings aren't common enough to be a genuine reason for a ban like this.

Agreed, as expected they are losing the plot in their mad rush to virtue signal to each other how good they are and the result will be

v

Agreed
It will stop current teenagers or others currently being radicalised from getting them and shooting someone in the future. Might also stop australians from travelling over there to get guns and shoot them up.

Very strong personal observation you and others are making.
Helps if you don't like her.

I don't mind intelligent, assertive and caring female politicians. Certainly triggers a few.

What do you mean gutting gun laws? I’m always happy to remove guns from the populace. Probably because I cannot shoot to save my life so in my interests others cannot.

Absolute knee jerk reaction in putting a blanket ban on semi automatic "millitary style" weapons, very ambiguous wording and knee jerk is my issue gutting probably isn't the correct word for the issue I have with their actions. But they are going very hard on gun control

Because it's been an epidemic? Really it is an knee jerk overreaction to an issue which was pretty low priority.

Maybe you meant impulsively restrictive?

One is too many when it's easily preventable. You get 50 people were murdered right? And it appears highly likely this mass murder took place because this country had loose gun laws whereas other countries didn't.

Personally I would ban all guns from private ownership except farmers. So I dont think it's gone anywhere far enough.

I quite liked that they blur the shooters face, and that Ardern refused to state his name. Quite refreshing when compared to the US with CNN putting up mass shooter's names and faces with a high score style body count next to each. The NZ reaction is how you remove the incentive from future nutters.

To throw in a negative, looks like the pressure of PM has aged her horribly. She now has the face of a 70 year old.

I think the terrible experience would have worn on anybody that is a genuine and caring person.

A strong leader needs to be able to keep their cool under pressure Magz. This is why leaders are traditionally male ;)
Just a bit over insecure males being threatened by independent, intelligent females. Their fall back is to her criticise her looks, speech or how she dresses.

I kinda agree with you. I used the wink ";)" smiley to suggest I was joking.

I do think her face looks aged, but that's just an observation and not meant as an insult.

A Muslim tried to burn 51 children on a bus in Italy. Most around here haven’t heard of this. Doesn’t fit the msm narrative. I wonder what the NZ leader thoughts on this is.
I saw it on SBS. Best world news service available on TV here by a street.

Never said I liked her either, I'm ambivalent towards her.

I call people from all different walks of life different things.

Ardern, like Sarah Jessica Parker has a head like a horse.
English is such a wonderful language and I believe has the most words, you should try and expand your vocabulary as you are either insulting females or horses neither of which is deserved.

Insane this ultra progressive woman wearing a sack and playing a call to pray declaring there's but one god (allah). Happens to lead a Christian country. She's stark raving nuts.

This isnt a christian country. No country is exclusively any religion, except for the Vatican.
