Jacinda Ardern, Prime Minister of New Zealand

I'm questioning this specially because of her role as Prime Minister. In any other role, why would anyone have a problem with it? I would be questioning it if a male was prime minister too, would be just as distracted.

I just feel that if you want to be the leader of a nation, you must be 100% committed and solely focused on that role. If you're having children, that is a distraction. My concern is not due to a gender issue.
But it's new Zealand. That's like being the CEO of North Melbourne. Nothing is ever going to happen so just chill and relax.

You dont reckon there is a high chance that NZ will be invaded while she is in labour?

Frankly I think it would be the perfect time to follow through with Item 6. Definitions of our Constitution.

God no, its bad enough we victorians have to put up with queenslanders and co.ruining our good name

Remember, NZ has no native predators at all, so they are ****** if we release herds of emu there.
I can't imagine the hordes of 'immigrunts' we'd suffer after the great emu invasion of 2018 considering half the Kiwi population are here already

Oh no, your Lib party mates and their fossil fuel businesses might not win?!?!?! How dare she.

Typical neo-con, only thinking about themselves and profits.

Clueless as always. May as well just shut down the North Sea operations. Stuff the few hundred thousand people whose jobs rely on it.

May as well shut down the entire world then because you don't get your way. You're packing your bags and going home.

Stick to finger painting. You just embarrass yourself on here.
Stick to staying off the forum, everyone is better for it without your TAFE certificate of attendance.

Everytime you've attempted to prove me wrong, you've done it so incompetently and somehow done the opposite and proved me right.. which I actually have no problem with. Then you try to insult me with typical neo-con insults like arts degrees and kiddy jokes. Pretty poor really. To top it off you follow me into another thread and try to make some random point that completely missed the mark of my post and the thread in general.

Maybe you should look in a mirror, although if you look like Nigel Farage I suggest you don't.

lol like catching you out fabricating crap about tube fares?

You clearly dont have any idea at all about the oil and gas industry, nor NZ nor economics yet here you are mouthing off as if your opinion actually has some worth. You cant even grasp the difference between neo con and neo liberal you are that thick.

Just another little pathetic Momentum type whose answer to everything is to bleat "racism".

The Taranaki Basin is one of 17 sedimentary basins that surround New Zealand, and there is potential that some of these basins may have oil and gas deposits like those found in Taranaki.

By international standards, New Zealand remains underexplored but there is genuine international interest in New Zealand’s potential.

Each year the Government allocates petroleum exploration permits to explore New Zealand’s basins in an annual tender process called a Block Offer. Areas are selected for inclusion in the Block Offer based on their prospectivity and commercial interest, and following consultation with iwi and local government.

There remains considerable potential for further discoveries. While the ultimate extent of New Zealand’s petroleum resources remains uncertain, successful exploration and development in these basins would significantly contribute to economic development both nationally and regionally.

Economic analysis shows the discovery of a near off-shore South Island field could mean more than $3 billion of investment, creating 270 new jobs.

A far-shore field could lead to $6.5 billion of investment. A major offshore gas field could mean a massive $19.3 billion of development spending.

There would be significant increases in royalties and taxes paid to Government, considerable export income, and increased employment and economic activity in regions close to any new field.

You mean being correct and having evidence versus your anti-labour rhetoric that has no basis?

Come on meds, give it a rest. You quote month old posts because you have a hissy fit.

Evidence? lol. Offshore drilling has the potential to create plenty of export revenue and jobs. That isnt in dispute.

That this policy will do NOTHING to stop global warming isnt in dispute.

They are FACTS.

Are you sure? Burning of fossil fuels is a cause in global warming. If you prevent access to them then they can't be burnt. That's year 1 basics.

What I don't get is this; Big Oil right, they're afraid of alternative fuels and energy sources destroying their revenue streams. HOW COME they themselves don't become Big Green as well and diversify their existing revenue streams? Even if petrol-driven motors become a rarity there will always be a need for petrochemical products like plastic, etc.

Income from a diverse range of sources is always better, right?
