I think that has all been quite public for a long time, hence a lot of people personally name dropping his wife in this thread. Bit dodgy to discuss family members on a footy forum, but when they’re making their views such public knowledge and with such pride in those views, it’s almost inevitable that they become part of the story.

Surely he doesn’t get full pay to sit on the sidelines making his stance, this is where it is all wrong. Take his pay off him and watch how quick he gets vaccinated.

Dont know if its been mentioned but under the rules, he's getting paid base wage (or less) under the CBA while on the sidelines:

On top of this, the league has outlined four options for clubs to deal with such players:

- Transfer the Player to the inactive player list (meaning the Player can be replaced) and pay the Player 25% of (for AFLW) their contracted salary or (for AFL) the CBA minimum base salary;

- Keep the Player on their playing list (meaning the Player cannot be replaced) and pay the Player not less than 25% of (for AFLW) their contracted salary or (for AFL) 25% of the CBA minimum base salary;

- Terminate the Player’s playing contract with the agreement of the Player;

- Exercise any rights the Club may have at law to terminate the Player’s playing contract, but such rights are not to be exercised prior to 18 May 2022.

The latter essentially means players can be delisted if they are not vaccinated by 18 May 2022.

Quick look at the 'gram shows his missus follows a bunch of 'crystal, paleo, detox, natural health, organic' etc accounts (plus the Casboults who are known antivaxxers).

If I had money on it, she's 'vaccine hesitant' at least. Literally every person I know in that scene are rampant anti-vaxxers.

Agreed that it is well known that his wife skirted around the edges in terms of wellness/shakra/organic etc but didn’t know that her mum was actually leading anti-vax rallies.

I can’t help but feel sorry for our club doctor who has no doubt had plenty of sessions with Jack only to have him come back with the oft spouted lines of “experimental vaccine” and “medical procedure”…

I seriously doubt the club haven’t been in communication and they’re conducting business through Instagram stories.

The club have posted what seems likely to be the truth, given JD’s name was floated as unvaccinated months ago in a variety of outlets, and it’s not something they’d go out of their way to publicise if it weren’t. JD has posted his free man of the land stuff, presumably upon advice that it’s legally binding or in some way the right path to take.

I doubt the Eagles higher ups have opened up their feeds today and gone “oh what, Jack’s injured? Why didn’t he just tell us”.

Athletes have made statements on social media to try and sway the court of public opinion for as long as social media has been a thing. This wouldn’t be on the club for not opening a dialogue with him about the topic.

I feel very sorry for Jack and others who have lost jobs because of these mandates. Quite a few people lost their jobs at my work. Top engineers and high quality people too. As others have pointed out Jack is probably in the top 99.9% of the healthiest people in the country, now he isn't allowed to play football. Hopefully his mental health isn't too badly affected.

I feel sorry for people who have died or people who have lost loved ones during the pandemic. And people who can't see loved ones because of the pandemic. And people who have gotten vaccinated but still ended up getting sick and suffering long-term ill effects. And people who got sick before they even had the opportunity to get vaccinated.

People who selfishly choose to not do their bit for public health during the worst global pandemic in a century, and who suffer some sort of adverse consequences due to their selfishness? Those people can go pound sand.
