They shouldn't but people should listen to the National Trust's opinion.
People bagging them is dumb and trump-like.
When the national trust offer to pay to keep and upgrade the stand, then they're worth listening to. Else they can piss off. They're asking rfc to maintain a building that has no value to the club.

Why ???

THere building is derelict and about to collapse and is totally useless , Need a shed load of funds to keep it upright and not worth keeping apart from historical value.

If it means so much to the heritage trust they can take it and resurrect it somewhere else. I grew up there and have been in the stand many many times and it has been useless as far as i can remember.

It's Richmond history mate, no need to bag the grandstand. It can be fixed up. There'd 65 million on the table, throw a million at the grandstand restoration imo.

Just goes to show how little you know about this

it would cost over 10 million to even get it in any shape to be usefull

Richmond history haa , I spent 20 of my first 25 years in Richmond and i know all about the Richmond history

Yarra Park Primary
Richmond west primary
Richmond tech
Ran a business on Bridge rd
entire family is Richmond people

That stand means nothing and has been rubbish for 40 plus years

Whatever your view, there's too many people making fun of the grandstand and offering to blow it up themselves as a joke ect.
This is, imo, another step in becoming an homogenous franchise club .
It's a big loss of Richmond and Melbourne history and people will regret doing it.
I find it curious that no one from the club wanted to keep it and that an outside entity had to step in and ask questions.
It's gonna look shit without the grandstand. It will look like Collingwood's facility.

That there is your answer ! Its a wreck and not worth keeping
But if the outside entity want to keep it then thats fine , Raise the cash and move it to another location and be responsible to preserve it in the future

* It looks shit now any way so better new shit than old shit

Yeek, must be sticking with the same architect that designed the hideous Punt Road look. Is that wood cladding or corrugated iron panels? What an eyesore.
I like it

I just hope the next development is an improvement on the previous one we did in early 2010’s.

Absolutely hideous, minimal glazing for the offices overseeing the oval, literally no seating. Should’ve been set back from the oval and had some form of seating for VFL and the capacity issues wouldn’t be so significant right now.
It’s a terrible waste of space and it all comes back to its limitations from design.

This is one of the saddest posts I have ever read on BF.
The fact you can't distinguish between a little humour and sarcasm and reality.
No one - not I, or Rioli2Rioli, DickieKnee, Beema, or anyone - is going to blow the grandstand up or would contemplate it.
Calm the farm.
Regret it????
I'm freakin' 50 - been a member for 48 years - the grandstand has been an eyesore and decrepit most of my life. I wouldn't miss it if was gone tomorrow.
See a better-looking and better-kept grandstand driving past the QEO in Bendigo twice a week.
The Punt Road eyesore is contrary to the image we want to portray and the status we have in the league.
Freakin' Carrara in the late-80s and early 90s was almost better.

I said joking about it . A bit disrespectful to the grandstand imo.
Anyway let's see what happens there's a few more hoops to go through.

the grandstand is not an eyesore, would look amazing with a refurb.

certainly better looking than a 4 storey underground carpark

who was on here previously saying the David Mandie building has tiny windows because the locals complained about the glare?

It's never really been a Richmond landmark, Dimmeys clock tower on the other hand.
It's not in Richmond. It's also passed it's use by date..someone said throw a million at it... ha ha. 10 mill would not get it done. 10 mill would not scratch the surface. We need to be progressive as a club. I just wish we were building a larger facility.
