Yep, MCC stuck some of old seating on wall in one of the bars, looks great.just pay homage to old stand in the new stand plus build a massive fu*en dusty statue and who the fu* cares
i would rather stay in punt rd right next to the G because it makes us seem like the fu**en boss of the AFL and all the other clubs hate it
nobody has any costings on here, we are collectively clueless on that frontYour statement is wishful thinking without any detail on cost and having enough physical space.
Hi again BL, I found this example, a cute little old wooden grandstand, retained and relocated for $290k in the Chirnside Park redevelopment, that's in 2018 money:Your statement is wishful thinking without any detail on cost and having enough physical space.
The JDS is in such a state that if you did try and move it it’s going to completely collapse. Plus there’s all the asbestos you’d need to deal withHi again BL, I found this example, a cute little old wooden grandstand, retained and relocated for $290k in the Chirnside Park redevelopment, that's in 2018 money:

colonwood fans getting cut up over a stand they've never been in
You see only negatives, fine, but I see opportunity, see my post above about the VIS state-of-the-art training facilities at the once-decrepit 1926 stand at Lakeside Oval. The JDS is in such a state that if you did try and move it it’s going to completely collapse. Plus there’s all the asbestos you’d need to deal with
Would cost a pretty penny to rebuild it again after that so why would we want to? Just throwing good money away
Let the national trust foot the bill for that of they’re so concerned
Let it burn
The stand is nothing significant to the RFC , Its just a rotting stand that is not worth inhibiting the growth of my beloved club
We now have more than just 44 players and 2 coaches and we need the space as well as the revenue that will grow MY CLUB so we never have to become a minnow club. F the stand
My Club is whats important not some crappy stand that has had no use for 50 years of my life
The Institute of sport is an eyesore, if you’re gonna preserve something preserve it properly not that monstrosityThose fans are right, not that CFC itself have any right to comment after the way they treated Vic Park on the way out- auctioned off everything that couldn't be jimmied off the walls and left the council with a complete disaster to fix up.
Much better example are the Sydney Swans, who stepped in when the 1926 grandstand at Lakeside oval was in disrepair and threatened with demolition. Even though they had left 25 years before, former champions like Tony Morwood stepped in to stop the loss, nice story here:

The Sydney Swans are making a last-ditch bid to save South Melbourne's historic Lake Oval grandstand.www.austadiums.com
I don't particularly like this hybrid model, but today the 1926 grandstand is not rubble, but home to the Victorian Institute of Sport elite training facilities:

South Melbourne have their old stand but no football club anymore. Same with Fitzroy and Brunswick Street Oval. You see only negatives, fine, but I see opportunity, see my post above about the VIS state-of-the-art training facilities at the once-decrepit 1926 stand at Lakeside Oval.
Soooo many things can be made of the JDS, incredible potential.
BUT, we will need former club champions/board members to lead it, our Pascoe and Morwood as the Sydney Swans had in 2005, people with a love for the club and it's history but also a positive vision for retaining that into the future.
The thing is even if we renovated the JDS it would still not be fit for purpose. Modern football clubs and stadiums require space for all sorts of things these days.
Absolutely you either restore it properly or burn the campaigner to the ground, it’s either heritage or it isn’t and south Melbourne isn’t , so burn the campaignerThe thing is even if we renovated the JDS it would still not be fit for purpose. Modern football clubs and stadiums require space for all sorts of things these days.
Even the Poms demolished the old Wembley stadium with its twin towers. A
stand with much more historical and architectural significance to not only one football club but the whole country.

He's a humble guy.I would like to propose that the new stand gets named ‘The Aristotle Pickett Stand’.
MCC can keep their car parks closed to keep the surroundings in great nic(which is heading in that direction anyway) which i think went along way of getting the vote and just as important it'll be bit of revenue stream during the season as well as mon-fri.Maybe the underground carpark is a requirement for approval. The new design seems to blend in with the park setting. An above ground 4 storey carpark would stick out like dogs testicles as well as taking up precious park land
Yeah we would have a limited footprint to build on. The council would never approve something that is going to take up existing greenery in that area hence why demolishing the JDS is the only option.MCC can keep their car parks closed to keep the surroundings in great nic(which is heading in that direction anyway) which i think went along way of getting the vote and just as important it'll be bit of revenue stream during the season as well as mon-fri.
nose has its own postcode
that grandstand shits on ours thoughThose fans are right, not that CFC itself have any right to comment after the way they treated Vic Park on the way out- auctioned off everything that couldn't be jimmied off the walls and left the council with a complete disaster to fix up.

my god, there is money to be made from the JDS!! It is absolute gold to have that position, with that history, and with that branding (Capt. blood). The Institute of sport is an eyesore, if you’re gonna preserve something preserve it properly not that monstrosity
the only reason the swans stepped in was there was money to be made, where are the seats? Where is the history? In the facade? Or the aluminium windows?
Where can one get this ‘rooting wood’?
Asking for a friend.
