Delisted Jack Martin [Selected by Carlton in the PSD]

He was only playing NEAFL footy because the club knew he was going.

I wouldn't be surprised at all if GC take a very hard line on his trade value.
He has played 6 seasons now, he is already showing us all that he will be and i'd suggest currently there is a handful of clubs he will struggle to get a game at.

He has to improve to still be on an afl list beyond 2021 IMO and is no where near worth pick 8 in any draft. I do not believe this guy will ever have the desire to work hard enough to become a quality best 22 player in a premiership team.

Well they have been known to do this
Caddy wanted to get to Bombers and they stood their ground and couldnt get the deal done
Prestia they demanded pick #6
JOM they made hawks jump through hoops before they eventually got what they demanded

Is Cochran still around ?

Just 2 points of interest

1. Didn't Martin nominate last week he wanted to get to Carlton
2. Isn't Casboult a free agent , Suns could just get him if they actually wanted him , Don't understand why he would be part of any deal involving Martin
Casboult has a contract trigger that he has activated that extends him until the end of 2020, why is this so hard for you to grasp?

I agree that a deal will get done assuming he actually nominates Carlton but I hope the Suns play hard as the drain of our talent for SFA has to stop even if it pisses of some players managers
mate, he was dropped in one of the worst sides i can remember for a couple of games, he's out of contract, if martin nominates carlton, gcs have little bargaining power

There are 3 facts here,
Martin is OOC.
Martin finished the season omitted and playing NEAFL.
When a player is OOC and nominates a club for trade, the current club is in a weakened negotiating position.
Lachie Henderson finished his time at carlton in exactly the same way albeit VFL not NEAFL but same same, reserves team. He went for a 1st rounder.

Not so hard to grasp at all but from whats been written that contract trigger is for casboult to activate if he desired but if he doesnt he could leave as a free agent.

Show me 1 example.
"Carlton will reportedly re-sign swingman Levi Casboult after he played the set amount of games this season that will trigger another year on his contract."
So he has to re sign which means that until he does he is out of contract.

lollllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll

Is that really all you are going on? Ok we are done.

“Of course if he’d missed that trigger and played 29 games, he’d be an unrestricted free agent — and there’d be a lot of clubs out there saying ‘we could do with this bloke’.”

Yeah we are done if you dont know that when a player needs to re sign that means that the player has met the clubs criteria and has an option to take that extension up but doesnt have to take it up if he so wishes. (but im sure he will unless there is a stupid offer)
But having met that trigger why would he then agree to be traded

We will send him to the draft to cut time spend on negotiating third Rd pick and casboult. Don't waste time on third round pick. GCS will let you deal with papley first and then send him to ND draft.
I would rather GC get nothing and send him to draft than getting casboult.

This would do wonders for your club's image and reputation. You've been struggling with player retention and happiness for years, and you think holding a player hostage and refusing to trade an out of contract player, not getting game time, is a good idea? Good luck signing up any of your young stars. Good luck getting any future draftees to sign on beyond the first 2 years.

You don't decide which draft he goes to. He'd nominate the PSD and we only have to compete with Melbourne. Not only are they not interested, but they can't afford him in their cap.

He doesnt need to re-sign as it's in the original contract. Come on mate, youre better than this. As to why he would agree to be trade, well, he'd get more opportunity at GC than at Carlton in 2020...

The sporting news is not a media outlet. It's a bunch of kids who started the website whilst studying journalism in uni. That website is a hobby.

Casboult has met the trigger. Ball is in his court. He holds the cards. 2020 option available there for him. He hasn't activated it as if he wants to go to another club it is far easier for him to go as an UFC and cut the Blues out of the process. Club's would offer him more coin knowing he wouldn't cost any picks.

I asked you to prove only casboult had the option to extend it, you COULD NOT.

Glorified trolling at its finest.

How can you prove that ??

Can you prove otherwise ?

the fact that he needs to sign is evidence in itself other wise why the need to sign if it was an automatic built into the deal

Trade already practically done. There was no point playing him. He didn't want to play anyways. He was putting in minimal effort on game day the month prior.

We don't actually know this.

You can, Carlton can paid him whatever the club like, even using pick 8 /9 with first year draftees wages, as long you don't violate ND draft rules. If Geelong prepare to get nothing from Tim Kelly and Tim nominate for ND draft, Carlton can paid first year draftees wages for him but I doubt Geelong can afford the risk compare to Gold Coast. MARTIN situation is no different to O meara to Hawthorn, out of contract, not in best and fairest due to injuries.

I've never met you and don't know you, but I know for an absolute fact you have never read the AFL Rules.

Nobody is suggesting pick #8 for matin , There will have to be something coming back

Prestia deal was seen as overs but in hindsight ended up being a beauty as it brought in Caddy due to Prestia coming to the club and the Caddy trade gave us the currency to get Jack Graham and win the premiership (these 3 players were integral in the year and GF)

Also Prestia + Caddy = Tom Lynch as free agent

Carlton is not gagging for Martin. That is evidenced by the apparent fact we underbid on him (Vs Dogs). If he didn’t want to come, so be it. It’s not a desperate need. Multiple ITK posters have supported this.

We won’t do a trade like Prestia.

Pretty fair, you don't need to do a deal if you think is not worth it. That is why I said sending him to the draft is the best solution, everybody happy. Just like your name Windows1, if you don't like it you can change it to Windows2, is not your real name any way.
