Re: Pick 6: Yarran or Ziebell

good read.
and you make good points for drafting yarran, BUT- ziebell will kick 25+ goals in as season if he plays as a permanent forward next year but if does not play this role he will definately go into the midfield. i'm not sure if yarran will even go into the midfield in the next few years with who-ever drafts him.

tall forward (+midfielder) >>> small forwards for carlton.

Re: Pick 6: Yarran or Ziebell

but rioli has turned at so important for the hawks this year i think Yarran could do the same for the blues. Rioli was taken at pick 12 as a forward pocket and nothing else but will mould into a midfielder which i feel yarran could aswell he just needs a few pre seasons where he increases his fitness and endurance.

Think port will be very interested in Steele sidebottom at pick 4 they have already had heavy discussions with him before his standout performance.

Re: Pick 6: Yarran or Ziebell

Why wouldn't Freo take Ziebell at 3? Naitanui is awesomely talented (especially athletically) but is still a bit of a risk. I don't think they can really afford to take risks given their trading/drafting history, plus their midfield is in need of urgent repair. If this happened, I'd think Port would be able to take Naitanui at pick 4...

agree. there might be some media backlash if we take a "no name" victorian over an over-hyped west australian, but our team will benefit in the long run. i am now pretty much convinced that we shouldn't take the risk (assuming he is avaliable)

We've got Eddie Betts...he's coming along quite nicely

Re: Pick 6: Yarran or Ziebell

pick 6 sidebottom(Bottom age) is a bargain coz for pick 6 this year we are really getting 2009 draft pick number 1 ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,coz thats where he would go next year if he didnt nominate this year.............:thumbsu:
I'd say Ziebs would go number one...

I hope we take Jack, just what we need. Although I wouldn't be pissed if we got Sidebottom or Hurley, just not Yarran or Vickery!

I'm one of his biggest fans but there is a fellow by the name of John Butcher who would be in the box seat for mine. I think he'd be the only player i'd take over Ziebell, this year (if Butcher was available) or next year.

Fair enough i was just saying that he would go higher then Sidebottom really.

Re: Pick 6: Yarran or Ziebell

Kane Lucas (WA) & Tom Scully (VIC) would have to feature in next years draft pretty early, top 10 for sure I reckon.

Can't argue with that, both very impressive, especially Scully who i've seen a fair bit of.

Also another player who impressed me is Koby Stevens (VIC) from the Gippsland Power.

Jack Ziebell 5,6,7,8,9,10,11

Shifter has him in the top 5 players emma has him 11 others have him anywhere from 5-9 most have him at brisbane.
Where will he go ?

Re: Jack Ziebell 5,6,7,8,9,10,11

Great question. He seems to have been under the radar of late, with all sorts of people going past him (Yarran at 2, Hill at 3, Hartlett at 4, etc.), and no one even talking about him. Despite initiallly sliding after his 10-goals TAC Cup GF, even Sidebottom has been eleveted above him on many lists.

A lot will depend on how many top 10 clubs go for talls.

I like the sound of him; would love to get him at 11.

Re: Jack Ziebell 5,6,7,8,9,10,11

I hope he slides to Pick 9 for North to take him, he is a future captain.

I do not think Brisbane will take him because i am absolute sure that Brisbane will take Swift with Pick 7.

Re: Jack Ziebell 5,6,7,8,9,10,11

It's funny at the lack of hype Jack has received.

His kicking skills off both feet are amazing, and he has the versatility to play in multiple positions on the field, I'm puzzled to why Emma Q thinks thats a negative.

James Hird was one of the better players in the modern era and never really had a 'set' position.

Re: Jack Ziebell 5,6,7,8,9,10,11

Fingers crossed he slips and we get him at 9, otherwise we will have to make do with Rusty Sidebottom instead!!
