Macrae (full salary) + future 3rd for PatonWe have no wings no small forwards and outside of a 33 year old no small defenders lots of mids and tall forwards
Macraes salary isn't an issue for us he has asked to leave not us push so the salary narrative holds no weightMacrae (full salary) + future 3rd for Paton
Would be good if you move on Riolo, Baker, Bolton etc and are worried about having some experience. That said, not sure you need that if Hopper and Taranto are fit? I guess you wouldn't miss a mid round pick when you'll have about 100 first roundersId take him at the Tigs.
Depends on the cost obviously.
What do you think his trade value is?Jacko would be a good get for North, Saints or even Richmond.
He'd be like Hodge to Brisbane or Lewis to Melbourne, providing leadership to the young guys at any of those clubs.
My guess is that something like that may have been discussed at his exit meeting (maybe even earlier).
Wherever he goes, it's a sad time for the Bulldogs. Popular clubman, great competitor, genuinely good bloke. Just a shame that the Dogs game has gone past him
HS are just taking wild guesses, and ignoring that 1/3 of Treloar's $900k contract is paid by Collingwood (widely reported at the time).Herald Sun 2024 figures from last weekend:
Naughton - $1m
Bont - $1m
Treloar - 950k
English - 900k
Macrae - 700k
Daniel - 700k
Dale - 700k
There's $6 million.
The 2024 salary cap is $15,788,222.
Then you've got Darcy, JUH, Libba, and 34 other players to cover.
Ain't no way your cap is under no pressure.
Probably a 2nd rounder, although I doubt the Dogs would be pedantic about it.What do you think his trade value is?
This. Some players you just respect their wishes and try to get a deal done after they give you many years of good serviceProbably a 2nd rounder, although I doubt the Dogs would be pedantic about it.
Given his service to the club over 12 years, they would probably take an early 3rd, just to help him get to where he wants to be.
Ironically, he's a player none of us really want to see go, which is exactly why we'd let him go easily and cheaply.This. Some players you just respect their wishes and try to get a deal done after they give you many years of good service

He hardly played VFLTry being a little realistic, 700k per year for a guy playing in the VFL soon becomes an issue. Plus you have a number of kids who will soon be asking for a lot more than the initial sign on contracts.
What kids do we have that are about to come off their rookie contract that will demand bigger dollars? Sanders and Freijah?Try being a little realistic, 700k per year for a guy playing in the VFL soon becomes an issue. Plus you have a number of kids who will soon be asking for a lot more than the initial sign on contracts. You need to start playing the kids through the midfield as as good as Bont, Treloar and Libba have been you need more rotations. If you dont those same kids start looking for opportunity else where.

Busslinger and Croft haven't even played a game. Hardly worthy of big contracts. Gallagher and O'Donnell have already signed ahead and neither worthy of any big increase. Darcy also isn't coming off a base contract - but will get an increase.Darcy, Busslinger, Sanders, Freijah, Gallagher, ODonnell, Croft how many do you want. At the end of next year Darcy alone will demand huge $$$ if you want to keep him. Then arent the Bulldogs also looking at Houston, something has to give.
Mostly we just do it for the nervous responses it can generate. Sometimes it gets entertaining.have to admire geelong supporters ability to turn every thread into how any high draft pick vic country player that gets drafted interstate is going to be playing for geelong in 3 years
But mostly it's because they believe it's Geelong's duty to bring them all home...Mostly we just do it for the nervous responses it can generate. Sometimes it gets entertaining.
Which is why we will let him go and do it for slight unders without affecting his value a huge amountI don't think it's an issue about the Bulldogs' salary cap being under pressure. It's just a basic TPP balance that is out of whack with Macrae. Clubs don't love spending 700k (even with the new agreement) on someone that doesn't appear to be a part of their best 22 moving forward. Of course the club will aim to maintain his value and say that they don't want to get rid of him.
I can't think where he goes or fits in? St kilda don't need him and it'd be a backward step for them. They have Steele, crouch already.
Is think he'd be a better fit at gold coast than dusty to be honest
Crouch is likely to retire due to a degenerative knee problem. Getting in more help for Steele is a big need for us.I can't think where he goes or fits in? St kilda don't need him and it'd be a backward step for them. They have Steele, crouch already.
