Essendon supporters don't want Gresh. We don't want to use our cap on him, we don't want to trade anything of worth for him. What does all this tell you? Gresham is probably sitting back thinking I don't mind who pays me as long as I get a deal. He's worth 350k for 3 years. That's his worth, anything more is ridiculous

Feels like this is just a case of trying to get band 2 through the door to appease st kilda. Whilst structuring it in a way that appeases Essendon as well as Gresham.
I’m sure it will get done. But would be very borderline band 2 I reckon hence the delay.

Lol

That is well below the average AFL wage, even before the increase

Lots of fair deals getting done hassle free by lots of Clubs.

Dodoro, Silvagni and Bell not among them.

Whoda thunk it. Not going to waste their 10 days in the sun.
every champion believes they've earned a lap of honour. The Prince isn't going to miss the opportunity to parade before the adoring masses for as long as possible. Plus, it's the Essendon way. Who can forget the Hird/Sheedy retirement roadshow?

The vision of Jim appearing out of the smoke like The Rock at Wrestlemania will long live in the memory. With T.Watson and S.Madden shoved out to the dark of the wing like they were wrestling jobbers. Absolutely Outstounding.

We all owe Adrian a debt of gratitude for years of entertainment :thumbsu:. Bittersweet as it has finally become for Bomber fans. There's no doubt he had everyone on side probably until the Joe saga finally broke his grip on the Essendon psyche. He is a true one off grifter. As elite in that field as Sheeds was as a coach, and Jim, Tim and Simon were as players.

As you mentioned before....Sleep well Sweet Prince.

sos still has a grudge with us because he still thinks he touched that ball.

I cannot believe the blatant manipulation that has played out to the point where it’s now become normal.

It’s time the league got serious…you can’t overspend on salary cap or soft cap as you get heavily sanctioned or pay a tax but you can manipulate contracts with your competition to net an outcome that you desire?

It’s nothing against saints or bombers here but it’s mindblowing to the point where action needs to be taken and the compensation pick thing has run its course and has to go.

I agree. Clubs were always going to exploit it and find loopholes to use to their advantage. Obviously Gresham isn’t quite worth Band 2 compensation but they are working behind the scenes to somehow make that happen by manipulating the contract.

Free agency compensation needs a massive overhaul as in many cases is actually works against the free agency component…

I think they should equally take into account the length of contract too, and not just use it as a tiebreaker (though this appears to be in progress). Make it a 5-6 year contract minimum with a high average guaranteed salary to trigger band 1. Brisbane shouldn't have been able to shorten Daniher's contract to trigger band 1 and then re-sign him to less money.

take it up with AFL house and the convenience of picks they're handing out like candy for compo picks

Agree it should be total income

Id rather 4.5mill + Band 1
1.5 mill or less Band 5
1 mill or less No compo

Just some random numbers ive pulled

We honestly dont know whats going on here

Id be very surprised if it aint a 700x2 or 675 x 3 deal that gets Band 2 with incentives for more years at a lesser income

This is such a good post.

Doedee gets to Brisbane with no fuss
Adams and Grundy to Sydney with no fuss.
Harmes to Dogs no fuss.
Etc

But every single year it's the same three dickheads who want to stuff around and make it about their egos.

Bell, Silvagni, Dodoro.

What do they all have in common

Dont leave Ol Mackie out of the group, he's earned his spot there.

Honestly, why do people care? Trade period goes for a week and a half, as long as the deals get done, who gives a shit. It's just a bit of fun for most of us on here and it's their job to maximise the returns for their club. I've never really understood those who get angry at the list managers doing their job
