Dont leave Ol Mackie out of the group, he's earned his spot there.

Honestly, why do people care? Trade period goes for a week and a half, as long as the deals get done, who gives a s**t. It's just a bit of fun for most of us on here and it's their job to maximise the returns for their club. I've never really understood those who get angry at the list managers doing their job

Yh, bUt DoDo iS a SmUg campaineRR who F&**s evErytHinG up For Evy1 elSE

Saints going to keep Gresham
We certainly will - unless the notoriously unagreeable Dodoro comes to the party and allow us to receive a fair compensation pick.
Most Sainters are happy to hang on to Gresh; he's talented and speedy and knows where the goals are. He just comes off as a bit selfish at times - could be more of a team player. I suppose no-one up for trade is without their "warts".

I cannot believe the blatant manipulation that has played out to the point where it’s now become normal.

It’s time the league got serious…you can’t overspend on salary cap or soft cap as you get heavily sanctioned or pay a tax but you can manipulate contracts with your competition to net an outcome that you desire?

It’s nothing against saints or bombers here but it’s mindblowing to the point where action needs to be taken and the compensation pick thing has run its course and has to go.
Maybe they'll stop it the year after you take advantage of it like with PP

We will get you pick 22

Haven't been following this trade period too closely. Do Essendon even really want Gresh that bad? Or is it just because he's nominated them? He's a good player but at 26 off an achilles and some serious knee injuries I think he is who he is at this point

He is free. If he wasn’t free there would be no interest.

I wonder if Dodo waiting until the last possible minute to lodge the contract is tactical. They would know what they are willing to offer Gresh and I find it hard to believe they have spent the last week going back and forth over that.

If they think the Saints are considering matching waiting till the last minute makes sense. It puts more pressure on St Kilda to take the compo pick as they will only have a few days left to get their other deals done, deals they will struggle to make if they get nothing for Gresh. Also, it means Essendon only have to wait a few days until the end of the trade period so they don't have to deal with a week of rebuffing SOSs attempts to trade with them.

My guess is Saints don't match the bid even if it is band 3. Essendon only want Gresham because he is free and won't trade for him (nor do they have much currency aside from their 1st rounder which they wont touch). They will get Gresham through the PSD anyway and SOS knows that though obviously itll mean more angst. Plus a 2nd rounder isn't way unders for Gresham. He's not hypothetically worth much more in a trade and Saints need that pick to make other deals.

Saints have more to lose from matching then Essendon.

I think you have summarised the state of play here very well.

The only thing I think raising is that the delay could well be the semantics about structuring the deal to get adequate comp for St Kilda (to ensure the deal goes through), satisfying whatever Gresh wants (given this is apparently $$ motivated) and Essendon is satisfied with the paying what is required to appease both St Kildas and Gresh requirements in a structure that preserves their future cap plans.

Simple on the surface but in the detail somewhat complex

Dodo is a massive campaigner, but those blokes are the reason trade week is interesting.

If it were all blokes getting along to get a "good result for both" parties it would be boring AF.

I hope there is a late Geelong <-> Bombers deal so Dodo and Mackie can square off.

It would be poetic. Mackie to beat Dodo to fulfill his destiny and become the new Dodo.

Apologies to Peter Bell and SOS who may have thought they were next in line. It looking like Mackie has them both covered.

Bell isn't in their league. Freo are only difficult in contract, we're absolute pussies when OOC.

Now for the part where we send the pick to Essendon for the corpse of Dylan Shiel
