Trouble is getting one of your players to go, maybe this and next years first rounders would do.

Agreed on the getting someone to go part. GC would have to identify someone they wanted, and HFC would have to agree to let them go as well.
In terms of the 2 1st rd picks, they will likely need one of them for Mitchell if he indeed chooses Hawthorn

The St Kilda ITK that revealed the McEvoy trade has today indicated that JOM will not be a Saint and most likely will be a Hawk.

FWIW a number of St Kilda players at last nights B&F indicated that the club was not really interested in JOM as the risk is too high.

These sorts of posts never take into account that Hawthorn were widely ridiculed for trading in Gibson, Hale and Lake. All three were supposedly not going to be the answer we were looking for. Gibson was a washed up back pocket, Hale was a has-been ruck playing VFL and Lake was a broken down fullback playing out a contract and not seeing eye to eye with the senior coach.
Burgoyne was washed up too, and his knee cactus.

Similar to what is happening with our interest in Vickery, Hawthorn identified a target and thought they'd go for it.

Now, we have to read how lucky we were to attract these players, when any other club could've did what we did and backed themselves into make those players better.

I expect it has been posted somewhere here already, but Gold Coast could play hard ball. Another new club, Port Adelaide, took a stand with Nick Stevens in 2003 and won the flag 2 years later.

it's funny how certain boards develop their own little private slang, like the Tigers with #eco. Took me forever to work that one out. It's like different regions developing different accents. It's also a good argument why people need to get the **** out of their own club boards a lot more often generally speaking and get some alternate opinions instead of echo chamber crap that simply validates everything they think over and over.

I might be an obstinate argumentative campaigner but believe it or not I do listen to what people say and I occasionally even change my mind and concede I was wrong

James Sicily is a player that would definitely interest the Suns. Only 21 and has kicked 30 goals in his 2nd season in the AFL and is ranked in the top 20 in the AFL for contested marks. The Suns have got some quality key forwards but no much decent small-medium forwards on their list.

it's been "pointed out" numerous times, yet never even slightly justified. Saying "it has happened so it will happen" is circular logic. It's pure sophistry.

No-one has offered a single good explanation of the situation if Hawthorn offer up something GC don't like, and (Melbourne-based) Club Y offers up something they do, and GC case say "Jaeger old son, you're going to Club Y or you're going in the draft" why O'Meara wouldn't suddenly see the attraction of a future at Club Y and instead somehow force GC to pick Hawthorn.

Not one single explanation, other than "well, it happened in the past" - ignoring the fact this is a far different scenario than any of them.

Jesus Lance its not hard. By now, players have already committed & agreed.... these are done months (even a year) in advance

Agents/Players/Clubs public narratives differ greatly to private ones.

You may well end up with him in the PSD but he isn't going through the process now of choosing his club - this has already been done. The time to sell their club to Jaeger has already passed... No doubt there are contingency plans but its extremely uncommon for players to not get to their desired location.

And not a BigFooty ITK.. Jaxons who is a lot more accurate than BS. Though BS and several other ITKs are all indicating now that Saints have gone cold on JOM. Opinions vary on which club he will go to though.

Steele while not confirmed is tipped to be a Saint if he actually does leave GWS.

We've shown in the past with our trading, that we more than make a fair deal. Any hold up in progress will be Gold Coast asking for more than he's worth.

Hawthorn over the past few years have been the benchmark at doing good and fair trades, but I cant recall you getting two players of the same rating (at the time of the trade, not now) as Mitchell and O'Meara in the same trade period. Whether or not you have enough to give in order to get the deals done is the big question.
