He really has the look of a classic classy centreman to him. His best work for us in the years to come will be between the arcs. Along with Rachele, (fingers crossed) Pedlar, Berry and Shoenberg, there is a nice blend of skill and grunt around thd ball from our younger brigade
And a bit of Rankine through there.
The midfield is starting to look a lot more dynamic now

I don’t know where his best position is, I think he could make a great wingman. He is our most skilled player and probably equal best kick with Dawson. Would love him delivering the ball to our forwards. I think Berry can become our centreman, in and under type. Maybe can split his time doing both .

Soligo just proves that we don’t need a top 5 pick to get a star midfielder

Nah, midfield. The way he works in a contest and somehow can get the ball and deliver. You’d prefer him passing to our forwards from a centre break than Berry who is likely to just bomb it.

Soligo reminds me of Tyson Edwards. So smooth, skillful off both legs.

Edwards tends to get forgotten in the shadow of McLeod, Roo and Goodwin, but he was a gun.
Soligo is better than edwards at the same age. People remember Tys for his work from 2000 onwards. But forget it took him 5 years before looking like that kind of player. Early on he was fumbly and would fall over far too easy.

Soligo does not fumble like edwards would

I see a bit of Roger James in him.

At his best James was a seriously good player. Knees failed him sadly.

Edwards also started in defence, Soligo has basically played midfield a lot earlier.

Soligo will be better

I know Jake is looking good, but can we please not start comparing him to someone like Edwards just yet. Tyson was one of the classiest, most consistent players of his era. Criminally underrated, in fact. I’ll be happy if Jake is two thirds the player of Edwards’ calibre. To say he will be better after a handful of games is borderline insulting to Edwards. You earn your standing in footy.

I’m starting to think Soligo IS the gun midfielder we’ve all been wanting to gain from our top picks at the draft over the last few years.

Didn’t skip a beat in the trial vs West Coast and hasn’t since his debut last year.

Class. Inside/outside. How far can a 20yo, in his 2nd season, go?
The way he's looked at the level pretty much right from the get go is Simon Goodwin/Kane Johnson 1997 stuff

So only be over the top in comparisons when talking about young Power players? Got it.

J cough H cough F

This reminds me of the Nathan Van Berlo threads from the mid noughties
