Brisbane have made massive strides off the field but will still see players leaving for bigger clubs or to play in their home state. Rewarding the well runs clubs is exactly why many clubs are running at a loss and will continue to.

off topic but what has happened to the Springfield mega centre? is it still happening. I wish the club was allowed to build a training base at Giffen park in Cooparoo, it was a perfect location.

It is gone. Griffen Park is no good from what I have read. Flood prone and not really big enough I think.

2 full sized ovals in really good nick, just needed a club house development at the Stanley st end IMO

5 mins from the Gabba has to be better than Springfield or Burpengary surely. I think the council were against it, would be worth resubmitting I reckon

Hell, we had people leaving when we were winning premierships.

Too much power. Cant agree but I guess it depends on specifically what power you refer to.

What I find odd about the player power situation is that even in America the most litigious and free trade society in the world with the richest sports leagues (beside euro soccer) have quite limited freedoms for players in sports movements.

They have soft caps compared to our hard caps. But in basketball as an example they have maximum salaries, maximum length contracts, 3 year deals for first round picks wih clubs options for a 4th year, home club can offer a premium t max contracts in $ and years to keep their player, Players can be traded against their will, draft age was raised from 18 to 19,

The players there over years of bargaining agreements including lock outs in every major league sport ( in the last 20 years) that they have to give a little to the sport overall for it to survive and thrive.

That's because the players associations push for a fifty/fifty take of the cut. They are more worried about the money than other stuff. Aron baynes just got $20mil to ride the pine. It's a totally different league and situation to afl that it's not even remotely comparable.

I hope Hawthorn have a look at Aish. Kids obviously got talent, just not the desire at the moment.

Hawthorns first pick for Aish. Similar to the O'Rouke trade last year.

The Hawks can only afford to pay Aish beans, both SA teams will offer decent contracts for Aish, much better than Hawthorns. Coupled with the fact that he will be back home with his family and his uncle who is still sick from what I understand, Aish is headed for SA this year in October.

I think after the Buddy 9 year contract ANY team could grab ANY player. It is just a matter of if clubs have the balls to go through with the trade. In this case Hawks would likely only make a Buddy type trade for a proven player. Aish would not cut it (unless it was for a decent deal).

Actually you are wrong. Once you have one or two major contracts, the rest of the players are paid unders.

Sydney for example cannot get Danger at $1m per year even if he wanted to go there.

Aish will be a 200 game player and he will be a strong b+ class too.

Thats a bit differant to what his Uncle and cousin have both been saying recently. Apparantly he is quite keen to immerse himself in the Melbourne football culture and not interested in heading home yet.
Both believe Collingwood have shown the most interest but a couple of other clubs will also have a dip

Time will tell. I think he will come home.

Where did you hear his fathers and his uncles comments? BF RUMOUR?

Speak to his Uncle quite often through work and played some footy with his cousin a few years back and still see him every now and then. Havn't spoken to his father

Fair enough, is that for certain?

It could still be media / BF speculation. I haven't heard him say he 100% wants to go

I thought he showed glimpses yesterday in what otherwise was a forgettable game of football

When have you ever heard a player say they want to leave while they're still at the club? He was interviewed on Lions TV after the club and his management had a meeting, was a perfect chance to say he loved the club, wants to stay etc. nope, nothing. He was offered a 3 year deal worth 1.2 million and has rejected it many times. This is way over what he's worth, if he wanted to stay he would have jumped at the deal, he's gone.

Pretty well known that he won't be staying.

Well he clearly has a plan in place to reject that coin, it's BS that clubs can so obviously break the rules and come to agreements with players contracted at other clubs (and yes I am aware that my club it one of them) player agents have all the scruples of a.............................................well I actually can't thing of a lower form or life

Exactly, he's gone.

It's not breaking the rules, players can't sign for another club, nothing in the rules saying you can't verbally agree to join another club while contracted to another. Happens all the time and has been happening for a lot longer than most of us have been alive.

Not sure of your source but that is not what I have heard at all. I'm hearing Aish will end up playing football in Melbourne next year with Carlton and Melbourne the front runners with Collingwood also very keen (although it will be hard if they land Treloar).
