Great example of sticking up for a teammate...

Understand its not a good look for a young player to start talking crap to a legend of the game, however in this instance Lake and Murphy were dishing it out all game to Walker and it was great to see Pets stick it up em....

Love the fact that the young group of Vince / Walker / Pets / Sloane are all willing to have a bit of agro about them....
 
Here are the players Petrenko would've possibly been allowed to mouth off too on Saturday night, according to the elder/better thing Vader mentioned. These guys are all younger and/or worse than Petrenko:

Dahlhaus
Dickson
Djerrkura
Grant
Jones
Liberatore
Markovic
Minson - quite older, but also a big **** so it's a maybe.
Roughead
Smith
Wood

It's confusing. Would Pets need to carry a list of names with him?

They were giving it to Walker all night (as were a number of the Dogs); Petrenko isn't meant to stick up for Walker and give it back to them because they're two of the oppositions best players :confused:

You're just looking for reasons to hang shit on Petrenko Vader; if you criticise him, criticise Lake as well, it'd give your comments on this incident a lot more credibility.

None of which play for the Bulldogs, or most teams for that matter. So carry on Pets. :thumbsu:
 
Bugger it being "poor form". I look at it pretty simply - if he mouths off at them and it fires them up to win the match, it probably wasn't the smart thing to do. Otherwise, go for your life! I don't care if it's your first game or your 300th, getting into the head of your opponent is a part of every sport and you don't have to "earn the right" to mouth off - it just doesn't mean as much from a less experienced person.

Sloane has done similar with Goddard IIRC I'm ok with it especially if it's been going on all night which it had in this case.

Yes, you then have to cop it either verbally or physically yourself when you do, but that was a part of footy that I loved when I played.

If I'm being honest the Lake thing really didnt bother me as much as some of his other 'look at me' rubbish. I really like Petrenko as opposed to Vader, I just want him to get some consistency and cement his position in the team and leave the showboating to someone who has earned the arrogance.

Yeh I don't quite get the double standards on this board. Everybody had a big fap when Sloane (playing in game 15) got stuck into Goddard in round 22 2010. I guess some guys are just more fashionable than others.

Vader has some sort of bizarre dislike for the legend that is Petrenko and spins a mean ball of yarn at the drop of a hat. He also finds any little detail to pick on the bloke.

Should be banned.

I dont mind when a player gets in the face of another. But Petrenko's act after a goal was kicked reminded me of Cornes/Tredrea/Surjan It was Port Power like.... And what was worse the game was still in the balance...
 
I remember Walker back in 2009 kicked 4 against the Bullies in a losing effort and they were giving him crap all day and I think he answered back, "If I'm so crap how come I've kicked 4 on you !"

Or maybe you could try coaching the Crows, see if you do a better job.

Petrenko is a skillful young Crow that shows a lot of passion. You don't have to "earn" the right to be passionate, or else all the over-zealous Australians would have a lot more "earning" to do. Lay off him, seriously, everyone's over it.

Petrenko only got in the face of Lake because Lake got stuck into Walker for his previously missed shot on goal.
Then when Walker kicked the goal Pets just gave it back to Lake......I liked it and though Lake deserved what he got.
