Wow... loving the bold selections BUT on the eve of finals?

Something don't quite compute...
It's worth a shot. Hombsch and Austin aint cutting it atm. Lienert is in better form.

Could we really go into finals with Marshall, Johnson, Lienert, Howard, Houston and SPP??

I'd have Eddy over Marshall and Krakouer over Johnson.

On the eve of the finals a quick exit is looking the most likely outcome. Time to think outside the box and throw in a few young guns ready to make a name for themselves. Anyway, better late than never?

Article also mentions that we are using our mid-season rookie upgrade (which I thought had been abolished) on Lienert, rather than upgrading in place of Frampton.

It won't happen, but imagine if this somehow works to perfection and we win the flag? How surreal would it be to hear names like Marshall, Bonner and Lienert being called up to receive their premiership medals.

Port Adelaide is still capable of upgrading two rookie-listed players to its senior list. The first will be Leinert [sic] as the Power takes up the mid-season rookie upgrade all 18 AFL clubs are allocated. This upgrade card expires on Tuesday.

The other upgrade option follows Port Adelaide putting untried ruckman Billy Frampton on the long-term injury list after his corrective shoulder surgery last week.

This upgrade can be done during finals.

Has Ken had a brain transplant in the last couple of weeks? The hell is going on?
Kenny is leaving the dogs behind and has gone to the casino and going to bet everything on black.

Who knows.
We are not that far away from being real challengers.
Doing the same thing and expecting different results will never work, so perhaps this late season shuffle may end up doing the trick. Hard to say what sort of trick but you never know. Here's hoping.

One thing is for sure though, young players play on instincts more than seasoned veterans do and this will make us more unpredictable. Which way unpredictable is to be seen.

I'm not sure about that.

If you have 38 on the list at the start of the season, as we did, then you can have 2 nominated rookies without a long term injury upgraded. We did that with Houston and Eddy. Houston has been given a contract and I'm pretty sure Eddy is still a nominated rookie. Lienert upgrade is because Frampton is on the LTI. We can still upgrade one rookie on the post game 11 rule that you can upgrade without an LTI.

Perhaps Kenny now knows his job is safe for next year so he doesn't have to be so conservative with his selections. This has been one of my criticism of him in that it appeared mid season that he was selecting for his future rather than the club's future.

Or like REH said above he finally cracked the shit's at his perennial underachievers. Better late than never i guess.

Hmm. Not sure about this but good luck to the kid!

I hope it's the second
