Its almost a false economy to trade out one potential star for another. You need to build star power to be successful, not tread water in that regard so to speak

You need a core, stable group of gun players to win a flag.

Rachele, Fogarty, JHF, Thilthorpe, Dawson, Soligo, Rankine, Berry maybe does that.

Maybe. But I would go 12 months of say Worrell, Doedee and Murray with help from Hinge waiting for us to get a replacement if it meant JHF

Doedees presser today didn't sound like someone leaving.
He would probably only ever go to Geelong anyway being a Lara boy.
And Geelong don't need him.

Apologies thought you were referring to Rachele.
On JHF I can't agree. Not many first year players effectively play inside mid in their first year.
Even Rowell 3 years in doesn't look good.
He's shown more than most IMO.

You’d have sold the farm for Rowell after his first year. Now … maybe a paddock but not the whole farm.

Nominated as an MVP candidate by NM (see AFL site) - can’t imagine they let him go while contracted. They don’t have any other KPD’s

Any deal that involves Rachele we should pass on, JHF is no more proven than Josh.

Proven after 1 AFL season?
JHF is going to be a tough match winning midfield gun.
Rachele is very talented no doubt but he's no JHF and what he could do leading a midfield.
Straight swap of pick 6 for pick 1..
Who's to say Rachele doesn't pack his bags in a couple of yrs.
I'm not saying do the trade but some serious thought should be put in if we are capable of landing both Rankine and JHF in the same yr.

Maybe JHF is just a bit tall for you to like him
