Would it come down to how big the offers are? If Crows could offer something crazy money wise, wouldn’t that sway him?
And North, given if he leave only a year after North drafted him, he would want the best trade for North and JHF nows we tried to offer North technically 2 top 5 picks for him and will have the picks this year....GO Hinkley.

If the crows did a Tom Boyd like 7 year 7 mill deal, would anyone be against it? Surely have plenty of cap space atm so could front load the crap out of it
Against it? Not really no. It's a big risk, BUT I suspect that by 2024, JHF is going to be emerging as one of the top 5 players in the comp.

Money shouldn't be an issue. We should easily be able to find $3 million per year to pay new players. Our list is shit, so if we don't have that kind of money, there are some seriously overpaid players on our list

Even more, we should have front ended contracts, so our shit list should have had a fair bit of coin prepaid as well.

Rendell finally confirmed what I’d thought should happen. He said as soon as you’ve got cap space and nobody demanding it you start front loading contracts to fill it up. We should have $hit trucks of $ available.

He'll go to Port.

Port do what we refuse and actively convince players with trade value that they may be better off elsewhere in order to get capital that they need. Whether they use the picks well at the draft or target the right trades is up for discussion. But what isn’t is that they’re prepared to be proactive in order to implement their strategies. We are reactive, trading only when players ask to leave.

Except JJ, who was toxic to Pyke et al and Betts who loved us so much he walked as soon as his spot wasn’t guaranteed. And the best but was that we kept paying them. How we managed to end up paying departed players under contract is ridiculously incompetent. You’re meant to hold the whip hand when contracted players leave your club. Can think of only us and Pies’ salary cap snafu in recent memory.

Just thinking....
Why wouldn't we shout the Horne-Francis family a weekend in Tasmania when we play North down there? No approach whatsoever to Jason, just his family.
It's not very subtle but the gesture might be remembered if a decision is required one day.
An interesting discussion is whether this type of inducement is legal and ethical from an AFL perspective?

Are we better to do this as an "arm's length" arrangement?
