Was it just me or was JHF unfairly singled out from the umps tonight? Couldn’t do a thing right in the umpires eyes it seemed. The umpires getting sucked into the narrative, most of the frees weren’t overly undisciplined, he just seemed to be on the wrong side of 50/50 calls each time.

If you told me JHF would be racking up 21 touches in a preseason game where he spent half his time forward, I would've taken that.

Obviously the frees against were a negative and just a bit sloppy. He also missed a few kicks trying to hit targets inside 50, but he still had 10 inside 50s, such was the effectiveness of himself in terms of sprinting away or being in the right spot to be the person taking that disposal. He also missed a sitter he should've nailed on the run.

There have been some mediocre signs from JHF in the first two games, but fairly accepted because he is coming off such a limited pre-season. However last night certainly was an impressive performance. The bursting out of the clearance after a lachie jones quick handball was super exciting.

Was very happy with him last night and would be stoked if that was the sort of baseline performance we could expect from him.
