I have it on good authority we actually turned him down. We've decided Rockliff is the better option that's why Laverde had to accept 200k a year.
Ameet 1
Dildo 1
Connors 0

Next u will tell us that you would have taken Gresham at pick 6 anyway.

Really, the clues were always there. You just had to look for them.

That's 2 years.

Laverde wearing black and white and lit up with red lighting - was clearly interested in signing for St Kilda for two years. I bet Connors talked him out of it, told him to do the right thing and stay loyal to his club.

This thread has been truly golden.

Some idiotic Saints fans.

Some idiotic Essendon fans.

But mostly just fans from both teams having fun and talking shit for about 30 pages.
Indeed.
I, for one, never believed that a guy who let it known when he was drafted that it was Essendon or nobody would burn them so quickly. He just used St Kilda to get the deal he was after. He succeeded.
It isn't like players have not done this before, especially managers who want a bigger cut. But it was always a low probability event that he would leave.
Definitely not one to spill blood over.

However, that does not mean that blood would not be spilt. Football is an emotional game and everything involved in it turns the hormones onto high.

I agree with you. And I also think that Laverde has put a lot of pressure on himself by using St Kilda as leverage. If he doesn't live up to his potential, there's not going to be any sympathy or second chances.

Indeed. It is a high risk strategy. Essendon will not give him the benefit of the doubt in future.
That said, HE thinks he an deliver. I guess we will see in 2017 just how good a judge he is.

I'm of the understanding that there wasn't much difference, if any, between the contract he was first offered and what he ended up taking.
Hope so because otherwise Connors has put him in the position of having to perform at elite standard every week which, given his proneness to injuries and relatively young age, is a big ask.
