Laverde's manager is well known for drawing every deal out and I'd suspect that his signature isn't too far away

You do know that Boyd is getting round in a zimmer frame and that Laverde is about 20 yeah? Talk about not comparing apples with apples. A near the end veteran is going to be down the line of priorities compared to a kid thats part of the future.

FWIW, think he stays 60%, goes 40%.

I beg to differ. Would Bombers fans do a straight swap with Jason Holmes? He's shown some good signs, more than Laverde.

Beg to differ all you want, you are wrong. We currently have four ruckmen on our list, there is zero need for Longer and there's every chance he wouldn't even get a gig playing in the VFL. Do not want or need.

Tanked his interviews so he could come to us also said couple of weeks back that he definitely wants to stay Essendon.

I say it's his manager trying to up his price.

Laverde is one of only a handful of players taken in the top-20 of his draft season to remain unsigned for next year but he told AFL.com.au last month he "definitely" wants to stay at Essendon.

"I've left it with my management group. They're in some talks at the moment but I just wanted to leave it with them," Laverde said.

"I obviously haven't played a lot of footy this year so I just wanted to get out there and enjoy being back and try and cement a spot in the side.

If he's staying with Essendon then it's fairly irrelevant what price Saints are willing to pay.

Its leverage for his manager and the saints get a bit of revenge on the Carlise deal!

Not to ruin a perfectly good thread with something semi-serious - but should he decide to leave, could the Bombers package him with Pick 19 and get in/near the top 10 of the draft?

Laverde + 19 for something in the 7-11 range?

I know - depends on him wanting out / where we wants to go / what they have etc.

I also suggested getting in on the Prestia deal if GC decide they want players and not picks.....

IMO worth something around his draft position if he wants out, but I suspect it'll be unders that gets offered.
