Traded Jesse Hogan [traded with #65 to Fremantle for #6 and #23]

Don't think West Coast will have a million dollars to offer Hogan next year after paying up big dough to keep McGovern and the dog so that line of reasoning in regards to Melbourne getting a great deal from them next year is unlikely. Why would Melb even consider letting Hogan go this year when they are right in the mix ? It's crazy and there is more to all this than meets the eye I think

Dees need a big bodied defender to have a tilt at a flag in 2019. If only we had a gun 23yo KPP that was the AA CHB as a 17yo in his junior year on our list...

Oh wait...

There is no way we trade Jesse for unders when our premiership window is wide open.

Notwithstanding, Freo fans are forgetting something... We’re on trading one of the 1st you’ll be giving us to GC to get May. Next year you’ll still have to trade us your first for Hogan, and we’ll just sign May as a free agent. Net result is the same for us, other than we’ve turned Jessie back into a defender.

Straight swap. Gov for Hogan.

West coast have good players. Freo don’t...

Ironic that it is the Demon fans that are getting hot under the collar.
I think you're wrong there. We honestly don't care either way if he stays or goes. If he stays, great, we have a young gun KPF helping us have a tilt at the flag. If he goes, we have TMac and Weid already proving they can step up in big games to replace him, plus we get compensated with a very solid Full Back(May) and a decent pick in the draft. Most fans are happy with either scenario tbh as we've had years to prepare for Jesse leaving. But your first offer stinks. It's a slap in the face to Hogan tbh. He's worth more than that and you know it. I suspect 2 first rounders will get it done, its just a matter of pieces falling and which picks are available.

Melbourne demand picks 5 and 6 for Hogan, rating him somewhere above Chris Judd. No outcry.

Fremantle say, how about pick 11 and a future second? Outcry on this board and character assassination (of Peter Bell) from journos who have no character worth defending in the first place.

Both offer and counter offer are a long way away from a fair trade. If the trade gets done, it will be somewhere in the middle.

The real joke is that Melbourne is shopping Hogan around. He hasn’t said he wants to leave. All the noise about trading Hogan has come from his club. Melbourne’s Manager has said the only way to get May is by losing Hogan. That devalues him, and gives me concerns that he may not be worth the losses in draft picks. Buyer beware.

Meanwhile Fremantle don’t want to lose Neale. If a trade doesn’t get done, they will back themselves to change his mind by this time next year. And if they can’t, then Freo will still get a pick after Freo’s first.
Neale is worth more to Freo and Brisbane than Hogan is to Melbourne, and possibly more than Hogan is to Freo.

Good post. I like your pragmatism. I feel the same way about the situation. I think the people that are getting mad are mostly just blow-ins from other clubs that like to sink the boot in whenever possible. Some folk just seem to have fallen into a cauldron of angry when they were infants. loL.

Melbourne requested 2 first rounders. Just like we coughed up for Lever last year. Just like Treloar. His currency is definitely 2 first rounders. Pick 5 and 6 is probably too high but 5 and something in the teens is about right. To offer pick 11 and a 2nd rounder in a years time is purely antagonistic and have wasted many clubs' time.

Hogan doesn't need to come out and say he wants to go to Freo. Why would he!!! He has already toured your facilities for goodness sakes. You want an official request in writing? laughable!

Melbourne requested an historically high trade. Their list manager stated that publicly. That was unrealistic, especially considering that it is Melbourne pushing the trade.

Pick 11 and a probable pick 20-24 next year is equivalent to two first round picks. It’s a little low, but not insultingly so. I think it might end up pick 23 and a future first for a future second back from Melbourne.

Melbourne reak of desperation with this trade. They are sitting on a player that wants out and a player that wants in but are getting frustrated at the fact if Freo dilly dally around they may lose the player that wants in but still have a player that wants out.

Yes its a high asking price and its justified. Hogan is a great player. And young. And healthy (passed his physical). Yes the offer was insultingly low. You can't say pick 11 and 20-24 is equivalent to 2 first round picks as its not. that's one first rounder and 1 second rounder. We want 2 first rounders and nothing less. And thats market value. We're pushing to get a trade done, instead of stalling and wasting time because we're a club that gets things done like we did last year with lever.

Insultingly low??11 and 24 in points is pick 4. I actually think we will finish lower so may be 11 and 20 which is pick 3 equivalent

It’s low but pick 23 alone would be insultingly low

I find it a bit odd that a first offer of one first and one second round pick is a slap in the face, but two first round picks will get it done. Where’s the room for negotiations?

Freo demands pick 2 for a 21-year-old first round pick who hasn’t set the world on fire but is pretty good. No questions asked, fine.

Melbourne demands pick 5 and 6 for a 23 year old RS winner who has a track record that matches the best forwards in the competition and it’s unfair in their rating.

Cool double standard bro

We will look after him off the field - don’t worry about that. All within rules - just that we have a lot of it that players can get involved in. Like ALOT. Our board is stacked with high fliers including langer. So if hogan wants to play cricket for Australia, we can sort that out too.

Yeah maybe he could be in one of those awesome HJ adds too

I think there were plenty of questions asked, but Gold Coast were desperate
