Have these guys grown since last year?

The discussion was regarding KEY position forwards

Was it? When you went back to the 1980’s it was hard to keep up

Today key forwards (and their goals) are so important that Richmond has all but eliminated them from their game plan.

But sure, you keep arguing like it’s 1987

Richmond is an interesting case they cant win away from the MCG but unstoppable at the G

Is it their forward line or is it like it was for the crows for years the home ground advantage gives them one enormous edge over the entire ground

Lucky for Richmond though the GF is played at their home ground

Man, you’re hilarious sometimes.

You should start a thread

you sure you aren’t confusing umpires with the coaching panel?

These ridiculous old chestnuts get rolled out a little too often

2017 plenty of talls perform well at BnF

And

Coaches hate goals
Here's one example why you shouldn't just focus on the BnF:
- 6 of the forwards all have their best years EVER, averaging 3 goals per game! But still, they end up ranked 17-22 in their BnF. How come?
- the other 16 players also happen to have their career best years! All of them averaging 35-50 disposals per game and elite disposals throughout the year.

We were talking about the winner of the BnF. How often does a forward win that?
Just going on statistics it’s harder to win it (due to numbers of midfielders bs forwards) but surely you understand that most of, if not all bnf’s are designed to mark how each individual performs the task required by the coaches each match.

So I expect Tom Lynch won't be earning much next year as KPFs aren't very important?

C'mon, keep up!

Its obviously about player quality

You would pick Buddy over betts but Betts over JJ but JJ over Sam Gray

But generally speaking everything being equal you would have two or 3 big guys in your forward line if they had ability over a similar ability smaller players they are far more unstoppable

and have 3 smaller guys for pressure

Man you put some absolute trash out there

Clearly they didn’t have their best years ever, at least not in the opinion of the people responsible for setting up and coaching the team

I mean duh

Maybe you’re not a very good judge of what constitutes career best years?

Tee hee, I typed maybe with a straight face :D

Do you understand the concept of "an example for the sake of an argument"? And I say that with a straight face
The point being that the BnF is all relative compared with how all the other team mates went.
In the case of the Dogs and Tigers in 16 and 17, I'd daresay the majority of the team in their respective years have "elite" players or players with "career best year". Just because someone came 15th instead of 10th doesn't mean they weren't as valuable to their teams contribution during the year.
Best to judge by their performance compared with other players in similar zones. No point comparing a forward to a midfielder or a defender and vice versa.

I hope you didn’t spend long writing out that nonsensical gibberish?

I’ll give you Davies and Evans, but think you’re overrating big Rudi he’s not in that company. Grenville is a class of his own, good and bad :D

Haha, probably right - combination of years passed, most memorable name and him playing State of Origin in place of Grenville elevated him some.

Jenkins is better than Tom Lynch (GC) Tom is about to be paid over 1 million a year to kick about the same amount as JJ does.

look JJ is my whipping boy as much as the next guy's, but as KPP forwards go he really isn't that bad, we're all frustrated because we have seen what he can do when he applies himself and he just doesn't do that enough.

I've been a critic. His output has been disappointing due to weak one handed efforts. The effort is better but the output isn't mainly because he's being held onto without reward from the umps.
Same result but better reasons.

It's what has been suggested by numerous sources.

Dixon 3.1mill 5 year deal. 500k first 2 years 700k last 3 years.
JJ 2.75mil over 5 years 550 each year.

However, (allegedly) Dixon also gets a good chunk of the Ports ASA allotment, Putting him over 800k
Note every club get 1mill plus a year in ASA payments to divvy up amongst a select group of players and the Spread of players in the Crows receiving ASA payments is allegedly larger than Port spread.
