Dude,. you come on here, assert that "some"home posters cant "see the forest from the tree's" then when your asked a question you cry "sh t fight. If your gonna play community fracture games, do it your own board. Otherwise take as good as you give without whinging like a shrinking violet.

Hey... TG has proven a sensible (and somehow, despite the feral team he supports, welcome!) contributor over time. Suggest you tone it down O-fella as the overall exchange is rather uncomfortable and over the top. You’re better than that!

26 likely to get a run (we had 25 vs ESS with Schumacher playing limited minutes at the end, Lobbe and maybe Plowman as the subs?)

- JSOS, Dow, Murphy, LOB, SPS
- Simpson, Kennedy, Kreuzer, Cripps (happy to rest, Fasolo), McKay,
- McGovern, Jones, Walsh, Plowman, Garlett
- Weitering, Newman, Fisher, Lobbe or Phillips (whoever is #2), Cuningham
- Polson, Charlie (happy to rest for TDK or Kerr), Ed, Thomas, Gibbons
- Setterfield

Thought most of the younger players showed improvement in their game & output on the field being JSOS, Dow, SPS, McKay (worked hard), Walsh, Garlett, Weitering, Fisher (DE% down), DC, Polson, Setterfield & Gibbons which hopefully augers well for a more consistent season ahead.

I think you have to play Fasolo. We need to know whether he is a Bugg or a Gibbons. Will he bleed blue like daisy or piss off at the nearest opportunity

I have to say in all honesty I didnt know what to think when SOS came in. But he has exceeded all hopes.
Not by himself of course but if your a coach and he presents this list as of now in just 3 years you have to think he's using magic.
You also know that Russell is not coming to Carlton if he thinks its a basketcase.

And what does our list look like if he continues with his excellent selections in 3 years? Of course that has to be tempered with the fact that it is a fair bit harder selecting for needs rather than wholesale gap plugging. Next year will be another test

We’ve brought in so much quality on and off the field.

During the Malthouse years I’d effectively given up.

To see what has happened in 3 years is incredible

Thank Goodness

I would love to see some snippets of Soapy from that era. Its hard to imagine Soap not being super positive

Tis for Kennedy, back in the same position he was at the Giants, down the midfield pecking order and against the promised land that would have been on offer in nominating the CFC (much like Lang too).

Still think MK is in-line for round 1 but someone’s going to miss out.

re lang and Kennedy. Hopefully they are made of pretty stern stuff. Just because there is no easy way entry into an afl best 22 doesnt mean they should give up. we need them to be pushing HARD so that those in the team ahead of them know they have to perform. Thats a culture thing and I think we have it. TBC....

The one to be forced out WHEN the time is right is Curnow.
We all know what he brings and that is still needed for now , but his decision making and delivery has always been suspect.
Kennedy , and in turn Stocker , appear the 2 players most likely for the position.

Ed's so called skill deficiency reflects the role he plays a bit. He had a very good start to 2018 skill wise and then dropped off. i think with the right role, he can be a carazzo like player.

Cant see Murphy predominately on a wing. Not now; the new rules arguably require ability for wingers to run at high intensity all day. Murph is better suited to high HFF floating into midfield role. Besides we have others who are better equipped for that role; Walsh who is a good ordinary player, and LOB.

And you dont think MM can do that? FMD that is his biggest strength IMO

Yep, wing for mine as well and agree on both your points on disposal & efforts.

Was expecting a big year from Murph this season (it’s only pre-season) but will he find himself without a position quickly into the season - Walsh may be irresistible with his endeavour for a permanent wing & I like to see lefties on the other wing, so LOB & Fisher offer more from that point, maybe even Willo for his return.

oh you guys are hilarious

I’ll be watching how McGovern goes. Looked out of touch and still not fit enough IMO. He was the only player in Navy Blue Thursday night that didn’t look very fit.

I’ll be interested to see how Russell treats him. I’d have no issue holding him back until 100% ready

Next minute MM kicks a lazy 8 for the NB's

We play Fasolo because we already know what Fasolo is likely to bring. His history shows no propensity to run when the going gets tough.

Well, your clearly an arborist and can see the forest from the trees :moustache:

Yep, you'd think a big reason why they chose Carlton is opportunity to play more games given the state of our list. However, our kids are developing at a good rate. And no-one should expect automatic selection.

I see Nankervis to be a Similar type /style of ruckman to Kreuzer and he did the job for us in '17, Boyd in '16 also similar
Lycett is hardly a world beater and got west coast to the line whilst the Grundy led Pies Jacob led Cows & Naismith/tippett swans failed

A good team can get the job done without a Gun Ruckman

This.

As supporters we are focused on what the side is "gunna" do in future years. Until gunna do becomes "is doing", the ruck is a super low priority. When the time comes you just get the bankcard out and go shopping, and you don't have to spend a lot.

When the window opens you don't need the best ruck running around, and he doesn't have to have a lot of years left in him. You need a guy who is:
  • Durable (rarely injured / can play through niggles)
  • Competent (when beaten by a better ruckman, doesn't get his arse kicked is enough)
  • Capable of high% match time (either ruck all day or useful resting forward)
That's it.

Doing a pretty good job of fracturing things yourself, Opi.

Gun comes in, gives his view that maybe some Carlton fans are getting a bit hung up on finding a gun mature ruckman when we've got a quality young bloke who will be ready to step up in a couple of years already, and that we only need to get decent service from Kreuzer, Phillips and Lobbe for two seasons. Then you unloaded on him...

Just take a second to read the intent of his post properly, instead of triggering over what you assumed was an attack on our supporters. It wasn't. It was a vote of confidence in one of our lesser-known youngsters from an opposition fan.

Sheesh.

You see what I'm saying though. Show me another team that's talking up their fitness person as a panacea to all ills? There is no other.

We have escalated Russell to levels beyond what they should be....Russell says this....Russell will do that. We don't really know what ultimate influence Russell will have, other than the one we want him to have. Long way to go before we see any 'real' effects of his efforts.

A big part of the richmond success was a lack of injuries
