I dont really do best 22
I think its far too early. Until each combination is tried there are too many unknowns. And still players yet to find their feet.
For me maturity is our biggest hurdle. We have talent aplenty. But they are still raw and our biggest downfall is rushing and over enthusiasm. Being older is not just about more muscle and strength there is the factor of timing and patience. Even Cripps has yet to fully learn that to my eyes.
Ask me again after this season because it will start to materialize by then.

It seems as though Setterfield has/will take(n) Kennedy's position.
This is not a bad thing at all.

Tis for Kennedy, back in the same position he was at the Giants, down the midfield pecking order and against the promised land that would have been on offer in nominating the CFC (much like Lang too).

Still think MK is in-line for round 1 but someone’s going to miss out.

We fulfilled our promise to those guys in 2018. No more guarantees, unfortunately, list needs to continue to improve. Onus is on the players to not get left behind. This is great.

Too be honest I have Krooz working his way back from knee surgery over the coming weeks and would not put him at risk for R1. Would even go so far to say that he needs a couple of Ressie matches to regain touch. Krooz is NOT as good a ruckman as Phillips or Lobbe but in the current 6/6/6 enviro, I can definitely see he will impact this year due to his +1 midfielder type follow up.

The one to be forced out WHEN the time is right is Curnow.
We all know what he brings and that is still needed for now , but his decision making and delivery has always been suspect.
Kennedy , and in turn Stocker , appear the 2 players most likely for the position.

We are no where near that atm.... his gut running is off the charts, always has been. Will take either a serious reshape of gameplan OR someone really hitting theirs straps for this to happen. I can still see Ed in the team 2 years from now.

I said WHEN the time is right ...
I cant see Curnow in the side 2 years from now.

Here’s my current best 22, sans Doc, for this year:

Simmo Jones Newman
Marchy Weiters Willo
Murph Dow Walsh
Setters CC Faz/Gibbo
Cunners McKay McGovern
Kreuzer Crippa Fish
Eddie Thomas SPS LOB
... not enough love for Plowman.

We just need to not gift games anymore and then it won't be an issue who misses R1. If/when Dow/Ed/Lob/Thomas/Gibbons etc. aren't performing, send them back and bring in the next in line. We have the list for it now, only a few should feel comfortable.

Cuningham probably showed enough to get a starting gig in round one - will be confirmed if he is picked again in JLT2.Newman ticked his box too- pretty obvious he was told to act and play as a senior player- took the ball from Simpson for kick in duties was a sign - he plays. Garlett is borderline - I see him and Thomas fighting out for a possie in defence.

Have to assume all of Simmo/Murphy and Ed play - so that is that for now- Ed probably under the gun more than Murph or Simmo. Scratch Gibbons and Polson from calcs- Gibbons good enough to be an emergency for sure.

Kennedy and LoB will both play JLT2.

Need to trim 25-26 to 22 for Round One. There is also a few to come back. I really like Polson but with form of DC & Gibbons and our midfield I find it hard to fit him into 22 for Rd One. Like to see him go back and get some full games

I don't think he is in our best 22 right now but I think he is our best option for a small pressure forward right now :/ we just are thin for pressure forwards and with McKay Curnow and Gov up front we need some genuine pace and pressure.

Cunners will be there as will Gibbo but both will get decent midfield minutes also. I think Polson will be there to do a job basically

A quick point on Collingwood. I really think they are going to struggle with the rule changes. They lack KP players at both ends of the ground.

Will be interesting to see how they manage with Gov, Curnow and McKay.

With Cuningham Gibbons Murphy and our mids I just can’t fit Polson in. There is also Fasolo. Not a criticism more a nice problem to have
