What did he take it for? Isn't it used as a horse deworming medication?
He took it believing it’s an effective treatment for covid. Like many other drugs prescribed to humans, it is also given to animals.
I know the site admin has now pivoted to “I was trolling the whole time lol”. I’ll give you the benefit of the doubt that this type of thing is beneath you.
This is not proof but he did have some doctor dude on there (NBC medical correspondent google tells me) who admitted it wasn't true. (I haven't listened to that particular pod, only seen some snippets, I know some see this as ignorant or something)
I really don't care either way. It's a bit like me saying "yeah I drank for two weeks straight on Xmas break, got covid and was fine after two days, that's the best treatment". It's a sample size of one, doctors see a higher sample size, hence they probably know best.

I feel more comfortable and honest, referring to it as a horse dewormer, than an effective treatment for covid.

It’s not an effective treatment for covid. Like most quack treatments there is some preliminary data in the beginning to suggest it’s effective and get everyone excited, but over time more evidence is gathered and it’s debunked.
“Ivermectin is an effective treatment for covid” and “Joe Rogan took horse dewormer” are equally untrue statements. It’s not right to just say untruths because it scores points.

So Joe Rogan took, supported and recommended taking Ivermectin (an over-the-counter (OTC) chemical dewormer indicated for controlling parasites in horses) as an effective treatment for covid.
But your issue is with me, on bigfooty, saying he took horse dewormer???

If I take a paracetamol right now to treat tinea, my misuse of that drug doesn’t mean I took a variant intended for animals.

He took human medicine for covid, and because it doesn’t treat covid you guys are saying that it means he took horse medicine.

The issue is, that he was one of the widest reaching voices, promoting the lie that Ivermectin is an effective treatment of COVID.
Turning people away from vaccines, and towards an outright lie.
He platformed this dangerous and deadly disinformation, and would have lead to a huge number of people believing the lies about Ivermectin and the vaccines.
He presented himself to his global audience of millions... that he was evidence of the effectiveness of Ivermectin.
His methods included taking ivermectin, a deworming veterinary drug that is formulated for use in cows and horses. While a version of the drug is sometimes prescribed to people for head lice or skin conditions, the formula for animal use is much more concentrated. The Food and Drug administration is urging people to stop ingesting the animal version of the drug to fight COVID-19, warning it can cause nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, neurologic disorders and potentially severe hepatitis requiring hospitalization.
How can you possibly think that you taking paracetamol for tinea is in any way comparable to what Joe Rogan did?
It shows how little you actually understand of the entire situation.
And this is what he took. You don’t have to lie about this, it doesn’t invalidate your concerns about people actually taking formulations intended for horses, or turning people away from vaccines.
Look. Ivermectin doesn’t treat covid. Vaccines do. It’s stupid to take ivermectin for covid, and even more stupid to take versions intended for livestock. You don’t have to lie about Rogan for these things to be true.

Nah, he lied first and he lied often.
I'm not lying. I don't know which one he took for sure. I know for a fact that it isn't an effective treatment for covid and that it is primarily used to deworm cows and horses.
I'm happy for him to be derided for being dangerous enough to take it, promote it, platform it and exhibit himself as evidence of its effectiveness.
The narrative is that we should demand truth and honesty from one 'side', and let stuff slide on the other 'side'.
It's bullshit.
If you demand truth, integrity and honesty, then demand it from authority first, and then come after posters on bigfooty.
You can't defend Rogan for pages. And then demand more from some random on the internet, than someone who is making money be deceiving millions of people.
I guess there’s nothing more to say on the matter. He’s rich and spreading disinformation. We’re not rich so we’re allowed to tell outright fibs because our “side” is right. Rare insight into the ethos maybe, so that’s value added.

Not assumptions, but a statement of fact.

Or can you only take him on his word... (which is bad)... and assume that because he is so rich, he would have easy access to it?

No I do not have his medical records. But you know what you’re doing. You wouldn’t stake your family’s life on him having taken horse medicine, despite your insistence on saying it, because you know you’d be assuring their demise.
You’ve already explained that you believe “Joe Rogan took horse medicine” is a noble lie because use of that language makes a dangerous person look less credible. So I know that you know he didn’t, or at least that you’re pretty sure.
