Nor do I think Medhurst couldn't have played one of either McCaffer or Blaires role. Might not have needed a second grand final either.

I don’t disagree but that still doesn’t change the accuracy of the statement. I’ll leave it there.

Harvey pre-game said Crisp is playing back to allow Sidebottom more midfield time. At the same time he's also playing Noble on a wing.

While Crisp is great at half back and Noble has had a couple of ok games on a wing I think we have the mix wrong. If it's not going to be Sidebottom on a wing I prefer Crisp or even Quaynor in that role with Noble at half back.
I think the mix is right, Crisp isn’t needed in the midfield anymore now that De Goey is there. Crisp is a much better one on one defender than Noble and Sidebottom is too slow for the wing.

He clearly has re-signed, but hasn't been announced yet

I just don't know why we are playing him in defence, where physicality is inevitable and where you absolutely need to be able to defend...

Gone are the years when youy can play a +1 or 7th defender that purely focuses on offence, and even if we still could Noble isn't good enough to command that role.

I think his strengths and weaknesses are quite clear. He's nimble, agile and can occasionally break lines with above average but not elite speed. He has decent endurance, but kicking precision is average at best. He has to be put on a wing/half-forward and play a purely outside game, otherwise there really is no point of playing him in any game.

I’m fairly certain that Noble had the top recorded speed if not for a particular round of AFL then certainly in a particular game of ours in 2021. Now that would have been top speed and not necessarily burst pace, but his speed for AFL must be considered elite in any case.

Which is fine, but clearly he’s not causing oppositions any headaches atm off half back.

If anything what you just mentioned is associated with good wingmen, where they consistently run at a good pace throughout the game.

He's an extremely good runner. Not many hit his speeds, let alone repeating itover and over again within a match.

Happy for Noble! Came to the club, played out of position and has done well. Not a defeners ****hole but has played his role and been serviceable.....Will be 25 next year, entering his prime years. Wouldn't mind if CFC threw him around a little to see how he goes playing in different positions.

No, it’s actually the exact opposite. It’s not about a consistent good pace over the course of a game, it’s a measure of his top speed achieved at any point during a game. And it’s fast. Certainly fast enough to put him in the elite category in the AFL, as I think his 33.8kmh puts him about 32nd for the AFL in 2020.

Guy came in to the club in the mid season draft 2019.
So a decent pre season 2020 to begin getting to AFL standard.
An interrupted pre season 2021, like all players, wouldn't have helped him maintain and improve that standard.
All in all, a good re-signing I believe.
For those doubters, have a look at the time, effort and faith put into the chosen one (Sier), and his ultimate failure. Despite being a top pick and getting the benefit of years of preseasons.
