I realised today how much I've been lying to myself this week saying I wanted Browny to retire.

Do I want him to be healthy? Of course. Do I want him to concentrate on looking after himself and his long term future? Absolutely.

Did I want him to retire and never see him play again? Noooooooooooooooo.

Thanks Browny. You've been the heart and soul of our team for so long, I guess since Vossy retired. What a champ. Enjoy retirement big fella, you've earned it.

I'm sorry PatfullFanKezz and Im'ma let you finish but Warwick just made one of the greatest unexpected Bigfooty returns of all time... OF ALL TIME!

The moment we all dreaded but knew was coming. The moment i heard Leppa say Browny failed his concussion test last week it was a forgone conclusion he would retire.

The great man has done everything and a lot more for this club. He retires as a champion, a great ,a legend and one of the most loved players in Lions history.

So many great memories but i agree with Vossy my fave was the night he returned from 7 weeks out and tore Essendon apart in Melbourne. Made Fletcher look second rate. I loved the fact he destroyed Essendon so many times.

Well done Browny on a career in which you should be proud and a player who bought so many smiles to Lion fans over the journey.

Here is hoping the boys lift for him this week and give the Champion the send off he deserves.

Browny you were a legend and will be missed.

My heart is heavy and sad and I feel like I've lost a friend today. Feel enormous privileged to have seen Browny play across his career. Remember almost falling out of my seat and going nuts when I saw him take that mark against Hawthorn at the G those years ago. How lucky have I been as a supporter to share in his football life. Glad that I got to see him one last time at the Bulldogs game the other week. JB you were an absolute hero to me. You made me laugh, smile, yell, stamp my feet, act like a crazy person and cry with your football. Enjoy the next stage of your life.

Today we lose a Lion great, an icon. Thanks for those unforgettable moments, the pure joy you gave us the Lion faithful, who in particular in Melbourne, allowed us that opportunity to be associated with one of the all time greats, who was a star in the greatest team of all during the turn of this century.

But, after watching the footage of Kyles, and the kids, I am sure his young bloke already had a determined glare as he walked hand in hand with his mum and dad.

I can't wait until draft night 2030 and..............

Player 1616200234. Jack Brown Brisbane Lions Academy.....

Geez, I'll try to be still here to see it.

As an ex Cats supporter many long moons ago, I still shed a tear when a young G Ablett made his debut..

..if I happen to get to see a young J Brown drafted to the Lions, the floodgates would open!

I feel really sad and empty but glad to have been a part of the big fella's amazing football journey as a lions supporter. He even made the fans stand taller in the grandstands with the heroics that he displayed. Well done brother we will miss you on the field but you will always be around in all our game day memories... And hopefully you will still play a part in keeping the lions in the picture. Well done.

That larger group of Brisbane Lions premiership players were/are such impressive people. I see it in the Geelong players too. They're just really genuine and honest, hard working and team-oriented and it seems such a part of their success. There's a lot of bad media when players do the wrong thing so we should really celebrate the likes of Jono Brown. He's loving and supportive of his family and his team-mates, is appreciative of the fans and his success and is confident enough to face the future. These are the things that we follow sport for.

I
Fantastic player and displayed all the traits we love in a big forward. It's hard to judge people you've never met but he always came across as someone who would be a ripping bloke if you got the chance.

I'm sure he was looked after financially well enough but I admire him for knocking back what would have been better money to return to Victoria and stay loyal to the club he loved.

The game is poorer for his absence.
Well off topic but I love your alias mate. Great movie

Just won't be the same without him. His football ability tends to get a little lost amongst the courageous comments. Always kicked the goals that mattered.Extremely skillful for a big man. Feel blessed to have supported the club he represented to the highest degree. It's a shame my 2 young boys won't get to enjoy what I was lucky enough to. Gonna miss you big fella. Thanks for the memories.

well this day had to come , Jono Brown , legend , super star , dead set great bloke ! my last mega star has retired ! thanks mate no other player plays with such heart and courage and given so much for there club in history ! the lions will be a much poorer place with out you.

today is a sad day not only for the lions but for the AFL for today an era has ended , an era when men were men and games were won and lost by super stars not stats and interchanges .

without doubt the most respected player in the league , your decision is the correct one family comes first !

thank you for the years we were priviledged to watch you and admire your skill and courage and in all of it, you were, and will always be

the most devoted LION of all !

What a career he had indeed. Shame about those injuries during his peak, could have been the best since Carey. Sad day for football. Enjoy retirement boofhead.
