Maybe, I don't buy that Fremantle would be so inept that they would go away and trade for 22 just assuming Geelong would accept it. It might be a completely unrelated trade but it doesn't feel that way.
He signed a long contract in his first year of the back of brilliant football and a solid run of games. It's still the same contractClark should come out and explain what Geelong promised him to get him to re-sign last time. Burn some bridges.
Oops. Thought he resigned last year. There you go.He signed a long contract in his first year of the back of brilliant football and a solid run of games. It's still the same contract
It's a pretty reasonable pick swap in isolation anyway. Need not be tied to any alleged agreement. If Geelong didn't indicate that they would accept pick 22 then why did Fremantle go away and trade for it? 27 + F3 -> 22 is an odd trade on day two unless it was for a specific purpose.
Yeah it was a big contract for a first year player. They were really excited about himOops. Thought he resigned last year. There you go.
Sounds to me like the trade for 22 is basically done but either Geelong are waiting to see if anything else shakes loose or it’s being postponed for drama. We seem pretty adamant on not trading 19Sounds to me far more likely that Freo just want to improve their draft position and offer the lesser pick to Geelong, hoping it’s acceptable.
Pick 22 will be accepted I think but you're getting a player far above anything available with 22 in this draft. It's simple, either Geelong buckle and accept pick 22 or we just call the deal off and come back next year to get him cheaper. The bastards are lucky they're even being offered that, I'd say pick 22 is overs for a guy like Jordan Clark, pick 27 was perfect.
Pick 22 is way overs for Clark on exposed form.
Beats me why Geelong are being so stubborn about this, it's a great deal for them.

Ah I miscounted years. Still, they were super excited about him.Geelong are complete knobs about players they want to keep.
Semantics but he would've signed a 2 year extension as his first 2 years are locked in at draftee base wage. Pretty common practice now for clubs to re-sign early draft picks in their first season, generally before their form warrants a big contract and to keep prying eyes away. Clark is an odd case because he showed more in his first season than since. We did the same with Brander and he showed nothing in his first season and marginally more than nothing sense. The hope is that you get someone like Walsh who is a gun in their first few years and you end up paying them under market value for a period.
Takes away returning to Geelong as an option. Cuts his price and ensures a trade.
I know managers advise against this, but there is a time and a place. Geelong have treated him like crap, he shouldn't be afraid to say it.
I heard the backline coach wouldn't let him play in his best position ..coz, reasons.. and the senior coach agreed. Then, after telling him he has to play wing, they recruited a veteran wing and mid to play there instead. All the while telling him he was a valued and special player.this is such rubbish. Isn’t there a ccj board where you can invest some energy. Alley board even?
the cats haven’t treated him like sh*t at all. They drafted him. Played him lots year 1 until he got injured. Offered him an extension on his contract last year. Named him round 1 this year and dropped him when his performances did not warrant a game. He looks to me like a kid who through injury and covid has struggled to give it his best crack. He’s not demanding a trade but would like to go to freo if possible. Didn’t demand a trade last year either. Hardly think any of this amounts to being treated like sh*t.

For starters, I don't think the sentence makes sense.
But we have Benning as a promising NGA prospect in a position of need (ruck/forward). Bid in the top 20 and we can't match. Picks 21-40 and we would need to use our next pick(s) to match. Pick 41 onwards and he is essentially free. I think that's how it works (not sure about the pick 40 changeover).
It seems extremely unlikely anyone will bid on Benning early enough to cause a problem, so it is probably a moot point. But you never know. Carlton bid on Henry out of spite and screwed us over. If we gave up 19 (which will be 21), it would be a shambles if someone bids on Benning at 21/22/23.
Same here too. Nathan Schmook suggested in a podcast that Freo may just walk away. Says the clubs seem too far apart and we have several WA interests in this years draft and so we might be better off holding on to our picks.
Sounding like the walk way is on the cards. My personal read is its 50/50.
Wowee, you do realise that nothing that the precious little football club you support has ever achieved, has had anything to do with prowess on your behalf?Wait until they get 13 from GWS and we snatch that one instead. They should just be thankful we don't do what we did to WCE and take ALL their draft picks.
Some truth to this unfortunatelyI heard the backline coach wouldn't let him play in his best position ..coz, reasons.. and the senior coach agreed. Then, after telling him he has to play wing, they recruited a veteran wing and mid to play there instead. All the while telling him he was a valued and special player.
Or he got word that the deal is done and he is good to go.On the Hard Ball Gets podcast today. Clark has already moved boxes of his stuff back to Perth and his car is on a train. He has not enjoyed his time at Geelong and it’s too far gone. Even if he’s contracted, he ain’t going back. He’ll sit a year out.

It either will or they're waiting to see if they can squeeze some extra value out of barging in on a trade for Lobb. There will be a back pocket trade option right now that both agree on for 22 but, to be honest GWS owes us a solid for the Cameron trade. Got them the pieces they needed for Collingwoods 1st plus players, and drew down their cap preventing any fire sales.I can’t wait for this to go through for 22
