2010 - Luke Parker Pick 40
2011 - Elliot Yeo Pick 30 Brad Hill Pick 33 Tom Mitchell Pick 21
2012 - Nothing worth any note
2013 - Zach Merrett 26,
2014 - jack Steele 24, Touk Miller 29,
2015 - Josh Dunkley 25,
2016 - Shai Bolton 29, Sean Darcy 38
2017 - Tim Kelly 24, Sam Taylor 29 Oscar Allan 21

Haven't done 2018 onwards as a lot of those players are still developing.

So yes there is some talent around those picks.... picking them is another thing though as there is a lot of average footballers.

Also... how bad is the 2012 draft. The fallaway after 18 is horrendous.
So in other words you found 9 out of 80 players (11%) taken in the 20s over this period who are obviously better than Clark (or very likely to have a better career than him). Obviously including 30-40 makes that worse but isn't fair. But yeah the player trading in a known quantity for a pick in this range will win the trade most of the time for this reason.

The assumption that he's somehow automatically best 22 for us is absurd to me. Injured, dropped and on the outer at Cats but somehow would automatically be in our best 22? Simply absurd. Even more absurd if we end up over-taking Cats on the ladder next year or the year after.

Doesn't matter what's happening in the future, what we know right now is that after his first season, he has struggled through injuries, form and a lack of a 2nd tier comp to get back into the seniors of a side that has finished on top at the end of the h&a and bowed out in a prelim, finished 4th after the h&a and lost in a gf and finished 3rd after the h&a and lost in a prelim v a side that has finished 13th, 12th and 11th in the same period.

Barring injury, he should play plenty of senior footy next season no matter where he is. Have a serious look at Freo's round 22 team, he'd replace half of them.

My crytsal ball isn't as clear on this player. I suppose peeps are just going to insist "he's your best 22' without any evidence anyway so I guess I'll just have to waive the white flag and stop arguing the point. But, IMO, he won't be walking into anyones best 22 in round 1, unless he proves himself first, for any club.

He was best 22 in his first year at a club that finished the h&a on top of the ladder that year.

Wow, just wow. We didn't ask for Geelong's recent Home-and-Away season placings, and the highlighted statement is one of the biggest loads of crap I've read on this website!

I reckon Wells gives
He was best 22 in his first year at a club that finished the h&a on top of the ladder that year.
He played 3 games in 2020, 8 games in 2021 (plus emergency 3 times) and couldn't crack a game or emergency for the finals, in a side that was desperately calling out for run and dash and is being overlooked for other guys like Close, Holmes and Zuthrie.

He butted heads with Scarlett who killed him of confidence and resented the club for that.

The same player whose packed his things and left Geelong.

No I was looking for absolute stars. You/initial ***sorryBigCat01 post I was responding to were referring to freo wanting to get Fyfe like picks in the 20’s. Not players that are better than Jordan Clarke lol the list would be a lot larger.

Freo seem fairly active in the trade period.
Lobb for one seems almost a certainty to move to GWS.

So they're not without their options to get more picks to add a sweetner for the Cats.

Thats a very fair point and i hadnt thought of that although the lobb deal might not get done although yes it could unlock extra picks for the clark deal. The biggest issue is that geelong have 2 needs this trade period 1) to consolidate 4 or 5 mid range picks into 2 or 3 higher picks (list spots an issue) and 2) to get in future picks for when we will have a much larger turnover next year..my point was that fremantle cant really do the latter with the future picks they dont have and the former would be reliant on 19 being involved. I cant see how geelong would benefit from any other type of deal but i suppose theres always options.

And?

Holmes with 30-50 games looks like he will be a good player.
Close finished 7th in the B&F
Zuthrie is a dour role player who is getting better at playing his role, played some decent footy in the finals.

Lol at thinking Australia's under-18 400m hurdles champion lacks dash. Holmes is one of the fastest player in the league. And he looks like being an absolute gun.

Geelong supporters feeling a bit in this thread now.

The trolls and irrational, hypocritical stuff is all coming out.

think we are all still hungover from all the champagne we drank when you got pick 19!
all to sober up and find out that you’d got 22 all of a sudden. It’s been an emotional ride. For what it’s worth, I think we will end up with 22 and clark will be a good player for you. Hopefully knevitt or brown slip to 22 so that we can get through the recruiting of ceglar.

Despite all of Geelong's rumoured shithousery around this trade, you've got to give them some credit. Have achieved the impossible. It appears they've managed to make Freo and WC supporters agree that Geelong are bloody difficult to deal with.

Feel kinda sick empathising with WC fans.

And we haven't even hit the part where Wells declares "It'll be pick 21 or better for Clark".

The goal posts are ever moving at least going off what the media presents (which admittedly is to be taken with a grain of salt).

It makes sense for them to wait and see where our draft hand falls with all that's going on but it's certainly frustrating.

Hopefully you don't grab Coniglio somehow in the Lobb deal, as Wells demands will then change "We've got to take into account we're trading to a competitor".

Just saying wouldn't it be brilliant if we just walk away from this trade!! Would happily take 4 top 25 picks to the draft

...and **** all of them up. Are there 4 locals good enough? The WA teams want as many locals as they can get with the way the borders and McGowan are.
