There is literally no evidence of this. It's just hyperbole and is completely based on word vomit from Sam Edmund.

Yes we may be interested in 19, but that also doesn't change the fact that you guys got both 19 and 22 in on the proviso that it was for your own list management decisions, and not just to satisfy us in a trade for Clark.

That's actually from your staff, rather than from Edmund - who can barely tie his shoes in the morning.
If true, fine. My first impression was that you were going to try and negotiate for 19 instead of accepting 22. That's fine as long as you then accept 22 if you don't meet our requirements for a pick 19 swap. Assuming you had said 22 would get the deal done in the first place. The media rarely say negative things about Vic clubs and they have no love for Freo, so I don't know why the would say you agreed to 22.

There’s been no confirmation of that. You had 19 before 22 so it doesn’t even make sense from a chronological point of view. We asked for 19 when you’d received it with the Brodie trade. And then you embarked on a further trade later on. Furthermore at the outset we initially said that it would take a late first round pick to get a deal done.
When we got the puck is irrelevant. We probably asked if 22 was enough, you say yes and we get on with all our business, not just your trade. We weren't gonna hang around and miss out on the Brodie deal.

If you believe that Freo asked Geelong if pick #24 was enough and they said yes then reneged after you did the deal then you probably believe in pink unicorns as well.

I really hope not
It's a possibility. With limited views of this draft it's likely that a Dev Robertson slides to that pick, but on the other side of the same coin will anyone even know? And if they're not sure, how much do they stump up? If your choices are 19 or 22+41 then I don't think that's super different in value

Sounds like a Wells has revealed his cards

Pick 19 (21) or 22 (24) + Carl’s future 3rd rounder.

If it’s not that John Ralph said it is very simple. He’ll stay a cat. Either way I don’t think we care one bit.

Over to you “feathers”

There seem to be a lot of people from both sides in the 'hope we walk away' camp. That is where I sit. I can't see the value in a guy who could barely get a game in the last 2 seasons. Bloody hope we walk away and unlike the Hogan disaster we don't turn back.

Seems then the problem would be list spots. That's how we'd know that there really wasn't some kind of agreement reneged on, because we couldn't even use Carltons 3rd so we wouldn't have agreed to it in the first place

Its carltons future 3rd which they own from the cerra trade so doesnt affect our list spots.
The issue is we would like to move a pick from this year into next for example ideally probably wanted to swap 34 for freos F2 (but they no longer have it) as it saves us a list spot but i suppose we could do that deal with a 3rd club.

Yeah it's still one in one out on the trade in front of us so that's our problem to solve I guess.

Thought I'd chuck the Clark trade into the HPN Trade Calculator to see what they reckon a fair trade would look like. Comes out something like this:

Obviously with Clark contracted you'd need something in Geelong's favour, but 19 or 22 + F3 is just absurd.

Or... Freo have tabled pick 22 because they and Clark and his management were told that's what would get the trade done. In the meantime, we've gone about our business and aquired pick 19 and Wells has shifted the goal posts requesting that pick, all while Clark has himself started moving his stuff back to Perth and put his car on a train back to WA.

The deadline gets closer, Clark and his management publicly come out speaking out against Geelong and they either accept 22 or keep a disgruntled player on their list another 12 months, who Scarlett ruined and has also walked from the club.

Good work :thumbsu:

If they said pick 22 will get it done i am sure it will, if they didnt then they probably will ask for 19 as its a slightly better pick.

will have to see which way it goes, not alot mentioned except geelong has clearly asked for pick 19 on the AFL website earlier, all i am going off.

Geelong will be very happy to have him return as pick 19-21 after the bids etc is not a very good pick anyway.

you could potentially get him for a third rounder next year so its probably best to wait it out if they see the 3 pick difference as substantial

What are the units this calculator uses? Similar to the ones that rated Mason Cox elite this year from champion data?
