Deep down I honestly believe Geelong and their footy department don't rate Clark, and this is all posturing by the Catters to try buy themselves back into the first round after their pathetic capitulation to GWS last year with the Jezza Cameron trade.

If I am Freo I would take pick #22 off the table and try again next season when Clark is OOC and most likely only command a pick in the 40 or 50 range.

Without going on the Cats board where I'll likely get triggered by the 1 poster with an outlandish demand, are there many Cats supporters who just want him gone now he so obviously wants out? We have the odd poster ready to fire Lobb out of a cannon, and he has two years left rather than 1
I couldn't care less that he's going.
Came to the conclusion he was a bust 18 months ago, and haven't been given a reason to reconsider.

There is a copywriting job for you at the Herald Sun. Even with the Bombers and GWS unexpectedly killing us this year if you think that deal was a stinker maybe lay off the trade threads.

Agree 100%. Geelong need to take that 22 and run (if it’s still on the table).

He’s young and athletic but a flakey flanker who’s shown very very little. I would’ve thought a pick in the 40’s would get it done on exposed form, requesting to go home and being out of contract next year anyway. He wouldn’t have been best 22 for Geelong next year anyway.

Only notable thing to date he has done is missing on the full from 15 metres out directly in front against GWS when down 9 points at a crucial stage in the game.

The kid has made up his mind... i'd say awhile ago.
Whether it's the 19 pick or the 22/3rd pick scenario, i'm not too fussed. yes he's still contracted but let him go I say.
He's heading home and I wish him all the best.
He has some great attributes along with some that will make you guys cringe... but hey. That's every player, Right?
Cheers Snuff enjoy the rest of trade week.

According to Jon Ralph, Geelong have said they either want 22 and future 3rd or 19 by itself, or Clark will stay.

Sounds like it's at the point where Freo say stuff it, we'll pay the overs or we go nah, that's ok, you keep him. But think this could play out until the final hour so I'm sure we'll have another full week of chest beating to endure, and then we'll know one way or the other.

I have no idea what Freo will do, but I'm hoping Freo walks away, and plays equal hard-ball next year, if we still have any interest.

Carlton's future 3rd is not really a valuable pick. It's kind of middle ground offer for not fixating on 19.

It’s like going to an auction.

Bank values the home at $600k, you can go up to $625k.

Somebody makes a bid at $627k. Sure you can up your bid, it’s only another $1k.

Its bizarre. Pick 22 now, or next year he plays half a dozen games and leaves for pick 50.

Is Geelong so flush with youth they dont need picks ?

He had actually played a really good game to that point.

🤦‍♂️ It’s actually nice that even with the flaming dumpster fire that is the “family club” that there is still time for their little minions to drop by and wish us well.

I reckon Wells gives

He played 3 games in 2020, 8 games in 2021 (plus emergency 3 times) and couldn't crack a game or emergency for the finals, in a side that was desperately calling out for run and dash and is being overlooked for other guys like Close, Holmes and Zuthrie.

All better players tbh.

Pick 27 was never enough for a contracted player but 22 is fair for a kid that's played what under 15 games in 2 years? His clearly not in Geelongs best and wasn't even sighted in the 23 team finals line-ups.
Not sure what the hold up is.

The hold up is probably because no one gives a shit that you're feeling impatient about it.

All this tooing and froing has been going on long enough, I’m tired of it. Geelong really want to keep him (value him highly ? ), so let him see out his contract.

We will know this time next year whether Clark is as good as some are painting him. Just someone give him a go, play him, so we can all get a better gauge of his worth.

Clark = Splinter Bum.

if he becomes a top player and features in every game, it will obviously cost a lot more than pick 19 at that point

I do think a deal will get done in probably last hour of the trade period. I tend to believe clubs should just let players go who want to leave.

Pick 22 if it eventuates is still an excellent outcome for Geelong, they can still use it with a later pick or picks to move up the draft anyway.
