I Googled key words from your post and found nothing. Would it kill you to link it? Or does it just not exist?
Cats coach defends ageing list, youth policy after blowout
Chris Scott says the alternative to his veteran side is to “play a few more (kids) and finish in the bottom four” as he defends his list profile after Geelong’s prelim smashing.www.perthnow.com.au

I know his going. But why hasn't there been any official word from all party's involved saying he wants to be traded?
Same, and even in the article it's not like he said playing Clark & Narkle would mean bottom 4I Googled key words from your post and found nothing. Would it kill you to link it? Or does it just not exist?
“It’s the price you pay playing at a successful club as a young player,” he said.
“There is a different alternative, play a few more and finish in the bottom four.
“I’m not going to say this is definitively our strategy but I think it’s very underrated, if you do use history as a guide, the dominant Geelong teams through the end of the first decade of this century played a lot of VFL footy.
“There’s a strong argument to say it’s good grounding to play your best football in your early 20s. Every case is different.”

Sounds more like he talks about young players being made to earn their spot, alternately we can play them before they're ready but that's not necessarily the best option for player or club

He's clearly making a generalision about list management in general.Same, and even in the article it's not like he said playing Clark & Narkle would mean bottom 4

And yet as has been repeatedly shown by Scott and the match committee, they're more than happy to select youngsters in the best 22 when the youngster has earned selectionTo say bottom 4 is simply him trying to justify it, it’s a ridiculous comment that both undermines the majority of the team but also ridicules the youngsters.
You can easily find a balance.
But if not, then be defined by the result. It’s not a negative IMO. I’d certainly rather be in Cats camp then Freo when it comes to past 20 years BUT I’d certainly rather be Freo now.
Cats cliff is spectacularly large.

It was said but it does not mean what you say it means.Well yeah it’s a generalisation, but when it’s in response to critics talking about age it’s a fairly dumb comment.
Anyway, it was said. Link provided by Snuff.
Pick 8 seems fair.
WTF.
Fremantle was in a middle of rebuild and Weller who were developing player wanted out for money.
Suns didn’t have to do the deal, like Fremantle doesn’t trade for Clark.
Massive difference is that Weller played 22 games and Geelong refused to play Clark and recruited Smith in his place.
Sure, Clark could be played off you half back but the Cats played Holmes over him.
Pick 8 seems fair.
Exactly. The conversation would be more like freo offering 27 and the cats saying "well we're not taking that and the only other Pick you have is 8 so I guess we'll ask for that then". Then both parties have a chuckle and say "OK talk to you later".
Any realistic outcome is clearly dependent on other trades
Not sure why anyone is potting Freo for getting the most they possibly can out of a trade. That’s how it’s supposed to go isn’t it.No I said in my post... we bent them over because they left it late and promised Weller the world. They had promised him they would get him in. That's why they got bent over. They could have walked away and had a very pissed off Weller on their hands. Just like Freo can walk away from the Clark thing - I strongly doubt we've promised him anything other than doing our best to get a trade done.
Yeah I dunno. If GC wanted to do the deal then that's on them and their list manager not to get taken for a ride. It's not on Fremantle. Not sure why anyone is potting Freo for getting the most they possibly can out of a trade. That’s how it’s supposed to go isn’t it.
