This was just a bad luck injury obviously. He did well to play with the injury, plus get us over the line!!
Hopefully it's a month out, and in the meantime others have to step up to the plate.
Looks like Elliott's days in the midfield may be stiffled temporarily.
Of course they are-he was showing enormous promise and we can't have that can we? I was just saying we can never have our best side on the park when Sidebottom stuffed up and now he will return and DeGoey will be gone long term. I would love to see us at full strength and in good form. It would be something to behold. We can dream.

We could have Cox or Thomas back in, which enables us to keep Elliott in the midfield

Watching Fox Footy. Eddie was talking about it. His quote was "hopefully he'll be ready to play if Collingwood are in finals action".

So done for the Season

Not any more. Can't see why he couldn't have stuck a band aid on it like last night and played out the season. Men are not what they used to be.

I downloaded the match and was about to watch it again. Lost all interest in it now.

This is not cool.

Playing on will damage/end his career as he would lose the ability to move his finger.

If you rupture a tendon, it is like a rubber band breaking. It will continue to slide down until it gets reattached. If you don't get it reattached quickly you can lose the ability to bend your finger.

"A torn or cut tendon in the forearm, at the wrist, in the palm, or along the finger will make it impossible to bend one or more joints in a finger.

Because flexor tendons are very close to the surface of the skin, a deep cut will most likely hit a flexor tendon. In these cases, the tendon is often cut into two pieces.

Like a rubber band, tendons are under tension as they connect the muscle to the bone. If a tendon is torn or cut, the ends of the tendon will pull far apart, making it impossible for the tendon to heal on its own.

Because the nerves to the fingers are also very close to the tendons, a cut may damage them, as well. This will result in numbness on one or both sides of the finger. If blood vessels are also cut, the finger may have no blood supply. This requires immediate surgery."

And these players are not a project. They are people, and their injuries need to be taken with care.

Whatever. We are going to have an uphill battle now without De goey and Howe.

When you think about it it's pretty insane how you can miss 12 weeks with a finger injury. Miss less with a broken leg. Unless of course you snap both bones.
Not really when it’s Collingwood. ****n Lynch breaks his hand and plays the next week for Richmond. Our boys could fair dinkum miss a year with an infected paper cut. ****n frustrating.

Some guy for Essendon also broke a bone and is playing. I bet if we got a broken hand it'd be 4 weeks out injured.

Isn’t this exactly the same injury that Adams had last year?I think he was out for six weeks, wasn’t he?It definitely wasn’t as long as 12 weeks.

Problem is we have so many injuries each year that sap the optimism from supporters.
Yes, injuries suck. Its unfortunate, but this is why we take the whole list. We have covered Howe well enough. We will deal with De Goey. We won without him last week.

De Goey is not collingwood. Just a small part of it.
