I can remember in grade 5…if boys were playing up…the teacher (female) would threaten punishment by making you sit next to a girl for the rest of the day…😫
I make my boys sit next to girls all the time. It’s good for them and is amusing for me.

Craig McCrae is so good. Legend.
The problem I have with this interview is that it takes for granted that Jordy is totally in the wrong but not once does it specifically state or address the actual crimes he has committed. Reading between the lines it's obvious that Jordy wants nothing currently to do with the club and is baulking at publicly apologising. There is also no mention of the total overreaction to the Tic Toc boys. There is no attempt to define what constitutes disrespect of women. There is only the assumption of guilt and the willingness of the club to embrace these wrong doers provided they admit their crimes and repent. I found it cringeworthy.

Craig McRae seems to be a wonderful man but hearing him say (on SEN) he had to check on all the female staff at Collingwood to see how they were handling the Bali beat up had me numb with disbelief.
As if all the women at the club were feeling disrespected and personally hurt by Jordy's video and the Tic Toc boys. What a load of crap!

I had a teacher separated the boys and girls for a debate, to start the debate he couldn’t decide between the boys and girls so decided he’d toss. Couldn’t understand why he got laughed out of the classroom.

I'm sure sure there is a lesson in there for the woke folk.

This is some TD level conclusion jumping. Maybe have a cup of tea and a lie down.

The problem now is that the situation (and the club in a sense, with the addition of Ginnivan & Quaynor video) has been basically publicly declared to be disrespectful towards women, so if McRae or anyone really speaks in too much of a 'pro-Jordy' way they will instantly be accused of having a lax attitude towards women's issues. Caught between a rock and a hard place.

Maybe ask Kirby that question.
Seriously?

So you go on and on post after post about consent, I show you it’s not as cut and dried in our own criminal law as you think it is.

Now you ask me why I don’t quote Indonesian law? I’m sure you and everyone else has been judging him on the definition of consent in Indonesia!

Yes, the Balinese are outraged!

FMD

Just as me and Molly thought, you're plainly ignorant.

I'll be trusting Mol's understanding of consent from here on in.

Thanks for nothing.

X.

OK smart arse. What is your take then on the situation?
My take is that he’s been hounded by the media for the past week up to breaking point and he needs some time away to avoid the inevitable media shit show that would have ensued had he come in to the club to train this week.

Sometimes you don’t need to read between the lines because the obvious answer is right there, turkey slapping you in to submission.

Hey guys, long time lurker but thought I'd make an account to post this as I can't find any mention of it anywhere.

Have a mate whose cousin is in Freo's best 22 (not naming names) and word is De Goey has toured Saints facilities in past few days, 5 year deal on table, highly likely to take it.

Side note Mcstay apparently toured ours while Brisbane are in town.

Sorry if already been mentioned, again haven't seen it anywhere.

Certainly you'd hope this to be the case rather than the more unpalatable view that they actually believe it to be as disrespectful as the footy scribes are claiming.

After Lin Jong I thought that sort of thing was off the table?

Kirby, I’m sick of people like you parading legal knowledge just because you are a lawyer

Many of us feel our legal opinions

You w*nker

If I was De Goey I would go to GWS

Great fit for him……..no stalkers there.

But the club is part of the 'shit show' in that they are obviously requiring a public apology from him before they will allow him to re-join the fold. It's obvious from McCrae's comments that communication has been cut between the club and Jordy. It seems more than just 'time away' to avoid the media storm. Given his emphatic statement from Bali that he believes he has done no wrong, I assume that he has not changed his thinking and has no desire to admit otherwise. Perhaps he also resents the lack of support from Collingwood personnel. I stand by my comment.

Sounded like maybe a bit of a wedge there given Fly made a point of saying we havent heard anything from Jordys mouth re understanding what he has done wrong. Doesnt mean a terminal thing and Jordy probably thinks given he has put something out writing thats enough. I would guess that like a lot of us (and Remy also) he thinks he did nothing wrong but has been forced to take this position for the PR.

Fly was pretty underwhelming. Nothing remotely to suggest anything other than the club seeing the players in the wrong. He clearly sees himself as life coach just not just a footy coach and thats fine but it sounds pretty cheesy in this situation. Not sure repeating "we just want to get him to the club and put our arms around him" rings as authentic. Sounds a bit like what you might be taught at a Christian fellowship camp.

If the club says he mucked up they should be blasting him not wrapping their arms around him. Club trying to have it all ways and satisfy everyone. Think Fly will over time have to start to use more of what he saw from Lethal and Clarko. Not sure you go go too strongly on "I'm a good guy and want to make everyone the best version of themselves and I also want to be your footy coach".

I look forward to you explaining why consent is irrelevant and how it is I'm wrong. You'll forgive me for being less than convinced by your say so, evidence will be required.
Consent is incredibly important but you are diluting it’s significance by referring to it in term of De Goey and Remy.

These two kids were clearly in the mood to flirt with each other. No offence was caused.

I think you're right -- he doesn't address these issues, and I think that's probably a good decisions in terms of the club. I think the question of consent - and disrespect -- is much more complicated than anyone in the media has been prepared to say. I think that's because none of them are really beyond the "you don't pull a woman's top to expose her breast" ever position. For my part, I just think the problem is that it was in public. But it's so super complex that the modern media can't handle it -- let's face it, the media isn't set up for nuanced discussion.

The club won't go against any of these things because a storm would come down on it for "rehabilitating 1970s sexism" or however the media would want to put it.

What I like about the interview is that he puts the emphasis on supporting De Goey and helping people become better, not shaming or embarrassing or attacking.

The 2020 trade period doesn't ring a bell? The Do Better report?

On SM-G981B using BigFooty.com mobile app
Nothing wrong with the do better report…it’s the stuff that went on before it (creating the need for such an assessment & the required correction & improvements).

Of course, I agree - but in terms of the immediate drama created by it, it was a shameful week or so by the club. We lost a President (even though I thought he stayed past his welcome). That's more monumental and cause for shame in the club than a player who has made a habit of being a bit of a dickhead feeling let down.

Yes it was a bad day (week).
Agree 2020 trade week was the worst off field situation that I can remember.
