Who said anything of the sort?

If Demons are so keen we reach an agreement.

Where be the drama?:)

Michael Gleeson and Emma Quayle at The Age are stating..." Melbourne still want Lewis at the relatively modest trade terms agreed with Hawthorn early last week... These terms were said to be similar to the late pick swap that helped get Sam Mitchell to West Coast last week, while removing a big chunk of money from Hawthorn's salary cap."

What happened at Hawthorn in the wake of the Sam Mitchell news? Did the board override Clarko? There where be the drama!

Maybe Fagan was more important than anybody knew!

There was no agreement....If there was, he'd be a Demon already.

Shoddy journalism.

There was no deal lodged but clearly the Dees believe there was an agreement. As an outsider it appears the Hawks footy department was overruled once the Sam Mitchell deal was announced. The reasons for the goings on at Mulgrave in the last few weeks will make fascinating history one day. I mean its just curious. You sign up S Mitchell for 2017 mid season then give him away for nothing post season and even pay some of his 2017 salary. Uncontracted vets and Lewis are all asked to take pay cuts for 2017 which they do then Lewis is told something post season which sees him urgently looking for a new club!

I think it was Abasi who said Melbourne fudged from a 2nd round offer to a 3rd, once they got wind of the Mitchell deal.

You can't have your cake & fudge too.

Once again....Lewy is contracted, so balls in your court.

Honestly, clarko has conversations with all the older players about their plans post-footy, and strives to set them up as well as possible, even at the detriment of our own club

If there was an offer, Lewis would already be a demon

It's most likely clarko went to Lewis and asked him his plans on the future, told him bluntly where he sees him at hawthorn, and that if another club can commit longer, it would be best financially if he accepted. Jordan then most likely got shitty because he was told he may not have too much longer left in the game

I highly doubt that hawthorn would accept another low pick either. The one for Mitchell was in good faith, as Mitchell doesn't see himself going on too much longer

Lewis is more like Mark Williams
not long left, but potential to turn it around
Hawthorn got pick 9 for Williams

Incredible. Thank you for your contribution.

2 players out? Hill out. Shit!! Panic stations!!! :drunk::drunk::drunk:
not fu to hawks at all, we asked the question and he said no.......
Its not like this happen outta no where.....clarko after the finals obviously planned for this as he realised the game has changed so he needs to change which means the team has to change.
Yes because Fagan has gone to a way more better situation at the lions.......
If it wasn't for hawthorn the afl wouldn't be where it is now as most of the coaches have come from hawthorn :)

Congrats on having more tickets on yourself than anyone ever. :thumbsu:

It was the same with GFC in our time too. Lions before that.

Guess you weren't old enough to remember those.

But back to Lewis. He middle fingered the club right after they middle fingered him.
And perhaps Fagan left as he saw this coming and thought that, as you suggested, the Lions will be a better situation than, well what you have going.

And as for it coming out of nowhere, based on the words from Lewis, he thought he was getting a call to be Captain. 5 days later he's a Demon.
Id say that pretty much is the definition of coming from nowhere.

Go Catters

Sounds completely made up, no way we'd have offered a 2nd rounder for a 31yo. Mark Neeld and Barry Prendergast don't work for us anymore.

I'll take the journos saying it'll be a late pick over a Hawthorn supporting random on BF saying an implausible 2nd rounder.

Ahahahahaha this guy legit?
Coming from a club that has Buckley hope it's a troll honestly or shut down your account just like Buckley shut down your 2010 side lol

Yes, I'm taking the bait, and yes, it's off-topic, but I like to shoot down this myth whenever it pops up.

Leigh Brown and Leon Davis retired at the end of 2011. Ben Johnson, Nick Maxwell, Luke Ball, Dane Swan, Alan Toovey and Brent Macaffer all retired as Collingwood players. Darren Jolly, Andrew Krakouer and Alan Didak all played their final AFL games as Collingwood players too, each past their prime once delisted. Heath Shaw and Travis Cloke both played out their prime years at Collingwood as well.

Players from the 2010 and 2011 GF sides who left Collingwood before or during their prime (ages 25-29) in the Buckley coaching era:

- Heritier Lumumba - 24 games in two seasons at Melbourne

- Dale Thomas - 43 games in three seasons at Carlton, which works out to about $50K a game on his base contract alone

- Chris Dawes - 50 games in four seasons at Melbourne

- Sharrod Wellingham - 76 games in four seasons at West Coast

- Nathan Brown - Leaving to St Kilda this trade period

- Dayne Beams - 18 games in two seasons at Brisbane, 45 games total in the four seasons since winning Collingwood's B&F in 2012

The "destruction" of the list is grossly overstated. If we'd hung onto those players and not made any moves whatsover, we'd be just as mediocre, and would have less of a future going forward, too.
