There is some criticism of Dodoro, but the defence of his trading this year and last is strident, and it's not one or two isolated examples.

Again, refer previous comments about Dodoro not valuing his own deal as enough.
There is pleeenty of criticism for Dodoro regarding Daniher. Many believed we should have traded Daniher last year instead of holding onto him. Plenty of criticism for the Shiel trade. Most Essendon fans also believed he unnecessarily made the Fantasia trade complicated.

I don’t have any problems with his conduct regarding the Dunkley trade though except for the length it took to come up with his offer. The final offer of pick 8 and a future second is more than enough. The 3-way trade for Treloar and Dunkley was also enough. Bulldogs just weren’t interested which is fair enough.

You’re misinterpreting Dodoro’s statement. Saying he wouldn’t do the deal if he was Bulldogs doesn’t mean he believes that’s what Dunkley is worth. It means he understands why Bulldogs didn’t trade Dunkley and would do the same for a player like him. A classic case of a player being worth more to a club than the open market considering Dunkley only has 3 quarters of one season last year to even justify a first rounder. There’s a reason why we targeted Dunkley over an Oliver type because he should realistically be cheaper than Oliver. Someone that’s pushed out of the midfield loses value.

Don’t think Dodoro or anyone expected the price to be 2 top 10 picks, which is what a contracted Oliver costs. We offered as high as we could and moved on from it. No issues there. All of Essendon, Bulldogs and Dunkley parted in an amicable way.

Unless he joins your mob then he's a superstar right
Im a huge Dunkley fan, will be even if he doesnt come, both are stars.

As for 2020 output and career output Zac Merrett is worlds ahead im afraid. Whichever way you want to look at it.

I didnt want to get into a comparison because its pointless, one wants to leave and the other wants to stay.

links of whats been said by the dogs? Ive seen the ameet quote that doe nothing to the contrary. Anything else ive missed? Was it Bont that said something?
Mark Stevens who is basically the official Bulldogs reporter said Dunkley has not requested a trade or told team mates.

So either the media has made it up or Essendon has leaked it to them ... wonder what it could be

Whether it gets done or doesnt, its master stroke from Dodo.

Not one person had thought of it and not one person had thought of the way hed get it done. The fact hes got Dunkley telling people at WBD hed prefer to be in the red and black is some of Dodos finest work. He is the least of the problems at the club.

Dodo has planted the seed, sometimes deals like this happen 1-2years down the track.

Wheres the direct link to the article or quote?

We arent saying hes officially requested a trade. That probably wont happen.

and it would be stupid to say Dunkleys a liar, but oh come to our club liar.

So Ridley and McGrath would not make it onto another list?
Ridley certainly. Hasn’t been with the Dons long enough to be sucked into the morass.

A couple of others might bloom if put into another environment.

I think the Dons should probably target some senior citizens of good character who are looking to extend their careers. Houli was a good idea - I’ve heard that he’s resigning with the Tiges on a one year deal - but that sort of player. Would hopefully improve the culture of the place.

But Dunkley, with his best footy in front of him, playing in a team that made the finals this year and are potential improvers ... why would he go to Tulla? Makes no sense.

Stupid money and they are picking up his brother Kyle .. before they dump him in a year

Their supporters will say otherwise but he isn't AFL standard. He is being used as a pawn to get Josh because they are a close family

Where the hell have you pulled that from?
Any chance of that link?

Thats essentially what your saying that Essendon are have said to the media that Dunkley has said he wants to move. What would make Dunkley think thats ok if he hasnt said that, it would be the last club he would want to go, if the case. So whats the point?

link?

Ill say it, Kyle his brother is being used as the package deal to get Josh to the club.

It will not surprise me if he gets a game though, hes played some ok footy as a small forward. After losing Fantasia even though id keep him if i got Dunkley and Irving Mosquito out for the year that leaves a hole on our list.

Do i think the dons wouldve picked up Kyle with Josh, no? Do i think hes on the list of small forwards for us? Yes just at the very back end.

Clearly the point is to try to destabilise the relationship between Josh and the club .. this is not a Stringer situation with bad blood.

It was on channel 7, and Mitch Cleary also said today he hasn't requested a trade and it is iffy at best

I assume the link being asked for is this one .

Personally, holds about as much weight as Edmund's "the bombers believe... blah blah blah "quotes which is all anyone has at this stage. So not much weight at all on either side as far as I'm concerned. Who knows what's going on.

There was also a quote from Twomey saying he believed no request had been made but that from a few days ago, so not necessarily up to date if things have developed

2020

Dunkley vs Merrett because others have taken it there, as inside mids*

* Definition: Must have attended over 70% CBAs in given game

Dunkley (Avgs): 20.67 disp, 2.3 marks, 5.33 tackles. 0.67 goals

Zac Merrett (Avgs): 27 disp, 4.67 marks, 5.5 tackles, 0 goals

Apples to Apples. Hang onto the goals because hes got nothing else.

Where do you find cba stats?

Honestly, Essendon just keep trying to take shortcuts to success and keep undermining the culture of their club, further and further. I’ve never liked them much but it is actually starting to get a bit distressing to witness.

Hopefully Dunkley is too smart to fall for it.

Ess In: Dunkley
Ess Out: Future 1st, Pick 29(Port/Fantasia), Pick 45, Pick 63, Pick 67

WBD in: Treloar, Future 1st (Ess), Pick 29 (Ess), Pick 41 (Pies) Pick 45 (Ess)
WBD out: Dunkley, Pick 12(17)

Pies In: Pick 12(17) WBD, Pick 63 (Ess) Pick 67 (Ess)
Pies Out: Treloar, Pick 37 (41)

Dogs Picks: Pick 29,40,41,45,51 = ~2110 points

Pies get a pick before Mcinness and also points for him

If they were both lined up i.would suggest 90% of coaches would take the premiership 190cm multi positional.star kid.over a midget vanilla.midfider. thats my.opinion anyway
Why would Essendon give up a proven AA player for a kid whos 18 months younger who has zero runs on the board, he has had half a good season (2019). Apart from that all he's being rated on is his "potential"

Merrett is better than Dunkley in almost ALL key stats.

Unless Merrett confirmed he wanted to go, there is no way on gods earth that trade makes sense for us.

I have no issues with Dogs fans wanting to keep Dunkley, I get it, he is good player and they do indeed deserve overs. But to suggest he is worth the same as Merrett is pretty embarrassing and to even go to lengths to suggest its Merrett + a first rounder is ******* ludicrous.

WBD out: Dunkley, Pick 12(17)

Pies In: Pick 12(17) WBD
Pies Out: Treloar, Pick 69

Essentially a Future 1st (Ess) and Treloar* for Dunkley plus a good amount of extra points for JUH

Dogs Picks: Pick 29,39,45,51,63,67,69 = 1935 Points (Goes very close to a Pick 2 Bid = 2013 points)

The dogs would do more work as they cant have that many picks. Trading them to a side needing more players for greater points in return to match a 2nd pick bid

*This is assuming the WBD hierarchy are keen on Treloar

A future 1st pick in a strong 2021 draft. Could potentially be a top 3-4 pick

Dogs fans would say no im sure
We don't even want Treloar

Love how Essendon make off like bandits and win trade week again

This is hilarious on so many levels. Pick 29 for Fantasia, yeah right. Then expecting the Dogs to offload 7 garbage picks to other clubs.

In what way has he declined or is "less damaging"?

2020 was clearly one of his better seasons, when you account for playing as more of a pure winger than he has in the past.
Was just going off my subjective viewing, but now I look at the numbers his meters gained, effective disposals, effective kicks, score involvements, score launches have all been significantly down since his AA year. Adjusted for shorter game time.

Your mate that you believe stevo said he'd work well in their midfield mix

A Future likely top 5 pick in a strong draft which looks good for mediums/smalls after JUH tall
Again, the only real winner there is Essendon, which isn't a surprise in any trade proposal by Essendon supporters even when they have no hand (eg Dunkley)

In your proposal we come up short in points for this year and have to go into deficit next year, but yeah good trade champ

You have made how many proposals so far? Every one of them heavily in Essendon's favour and every one of them absolute tripe

Haha.
If you think Merrett is that much better than Dunkley I think you have no idea. They are similar value players.

Reasons why Essendon would consider the trade:
- Merrett's form has dropped since his AA year 3 full seasons ago.
- Dunkley's leadership
- Age profile (while not a big difference it's still something)
- Dunkley fills a gap in your list better then Merrett does
- There's a decent chance Merrett leaves next year anyway as a RFA

The reason Merrett is being mentioned is that considering the contract situation of Dunkley the price is going to be two 1st rounders or one 1st rounder and a good player. The truth of it is, that out of the 2-3 good players you have, Merrett makes the most sense as the rest are all younger pieces which fit better with your list rebuild. Having said that, he's stated he's staying so it's all for naught.

I don't see anyway this deal gets done.
Merett is a superior player to dunkley
