Yep, they mean more to us because we have to match bids. I’m saying in the grand scheme of things second round picks are grossly overrated. To reject two first rounders over them and lose a gun for nothing at all is pretty devoid of common sense
If 2nd rounders mean nothing, go out and collect a heap of future 2nd rounders and give them back to us to even the deal.

Shouldn’t be that hard, I’m sure plenty of clubs are happy to give them away as they mean nothing

I honestly don’t get what you’re on about. I’m saying rejecting two first round picks and walking a player for nothing because you want to keep second round picks (late ones at that) is pretty stupid.

If you’re frothing at the mouth about losing Dunkley for that deal then imagine losing him for nothing.

Second rounders are shite picks. I stand by that. We have asked for them for points matching, that’s different from needing because we think there is going to be a gun player available at pick 40. If you think it’s worth letting him go for nothing then fine

Having seen your incessant posting in this thread for the last 48 hours I’m comfortable that anything you think is stupid probably isn’t.

Let’s just see what the Bears do from here, plenty of water to go under the bridge.

Why should we bend over just because you need points?

Why should we hand over our second round picks just because you need points? You would be in the complete minority about second round picks meaning bugger all.

Gees. Crows should be in his ear as he did consider moving to Adelaide. Maybe they need to make sure his girlfriend gets a big contract extension with the Thunderbirds lol. But seriously if this one looks like falling over and it does end up at the PSD, what a potential opportunity to grab a very good player for a value of a contract only
Sydney isn't too far from brisbane

Because it’s the price of giving you two firsts for a player out of contract. And you really don’t have any choice other than walk him for nothing.

And this is where you are falling down.

No it’s not the price. It’s the price in your head because you don’t value second round picks.

I’m not the one offering deal.

Just saying that letting someone walk for nothing instead of taking two firsts because you value late second round picks isn’t great business.

Would you rather have two first rounders or nothing? That’s the question.

I think once the emotion comes out of losing him it will be easier to take

Interesting the article says Brisbane are wanting to hold 21 til draft night. What is the best we would offer the dogs then? 25 and a future first? Unders surely. Must have something planned we don't know about. Brisbane have a good track record of getting deals done and being fair at the trade table, but this is strange.

So is caving in and selling Dunkley for far less than he's worth. Two very late first-round picks with two second rounders back is so far under the odds for a 25yo reigning B&F winner that it's worth rejecting.

Frankly, Brisbane have created this situation by pursuing a player when they aren't willing to make the required sacrifices to recruit their F/S players and get Dunkley. That's not the Dogs' problem.

If I were the Dogs, I would absolutely shut down any question of Dunkley going for such a crap deal. It's a terrible precedent to set.

You can get very good players with second-round picks - very few champions, but good players certainly. IIRC, from our flag team, Cam Guthrie, Mitch Duncan, Brandan Parfitt and Tyson Stengle were R2 picks. Dunkley himself was a R2 pick.

You know the B&F winning player your club is trading for was originally a 2nd round pick, right? And that half of the top 10 in your own club's B&F were selected in the 2nd round or below?
Yeh we have great recruiters.

Do I need to post on the selections in the 30’s and 40’s in the history of the draft compared to first rounders to prove a point?

Are you more likely to get a gun with first rounders or picks in the 30’s and 40’s? Answer me that.

You have made your point. Keeping second rounders is worth losing Dunkley for nothing.

For every Dunkley there is 20 Cedric Cox’s

Initially it was pick 15 and a future first for Dunkley, pick 30, pick 39, and a future third. When we told them to * off they traded away pick 15.
Were they willing to throw in an old Warwick Capper poster and Jonny Gastev's headband to cap off the mother of all crap trades?

Bulldogs deserve 15 and F1 (15-18?)
But could have had our pick 4 and 20odd..

Imagine if all clubs had the same mentality as you. They’d all hate each other and more players would go to the PSD. It’s not good business and I’d expect any club to make a stand.

It’s got nothing to do with emotion mate- don’t start with that petty shi*.

Do Lions fans still think you are acting in good faith?

Offer was 15, your future 1st for Dunkley, 30, 37 and a future 3rd!

Oh but I thought you guys always trade fairly and there was no tension between the clubs?

I know it often posturing, and 9 out of 10 times they will in this case take what the lions offer but there is always that 1 time. If I was WB I'd be pi$$ed that the Lions shopped pick 15.
