Your complete inability to look inwards is astounding.

You don't believe your mob would be offering him $1 million ($200k more) in 2 years time?

You don't think GWS want him as a 10 year player?
Whats that got to do with my post?

I would never offer a player a 9 year deal, and as a player I would probably never sign one.

Your club offered a 6 year million dollar a season contract to Judd when he was 25 and that was 10 years ago!!!!!!

I see very little difference in risk with the Kelly/North offer.

Especially at a club which is lingering on the edge of relocation like North Melbourne.

Did your club ever get around to paying back the AFL the $12 million they needed to borrow to keep the doors open?

Your ignorance of the North list is breathtaking.

We invested in some of the best KPP and defender talent available, in the more recent drafts when we finished with higher ladder placings. This tends to be the target group for clubs that have 1st & 2nd round picks in the teens and 30's.

The defence

Tarrant is a recognised star defender that has 5 seasons left. Jamie MacMillan is a good half back, and the injury riddled Sam Wright is also a quality defender. Aaron Mullet was ranked 5th in the AFL for rebounds in 2017.

The future Defence

Neilsen, Ed Vickers - Willis and Durdin form the core spine of our backline for the next decade. Barring injury, Neilsen and Vickers - Willis will be 200 game AFL players. Durdin plays more of a swing man role. Ben McKay also debuted and looked right at home handling the big forwards.

On one half back flank we have Ryan Clarke who averaged 27 disposals in the last 5 matches of the season (Games 16 to 21) and racked up some impressive stats for the season, yet many don't even seem to know his name.

He will become a 500 disposal player next season and won't turn 21 until June.

On the other back flank we have the impressive Declan Mountford.

Declan debuted in round 1, then came back and played the last 9 games of the season and performed admirably. The club is looking at extending his contract now.

Marley Williams came over from Collingwood for basically nothing and was playing so well in the first half of the season that his name was getting thrown around for AA squad inclusion, until he succumbed to a season ending injury. He has only just turned 24.

IMO, the highly touted Tasmanian draftee, Mitch Hibberd, will be the pick of the lot of them. He had an excellent 22 disposal/7 mark match against Freo in only his 3rd match before succumbing to a season ending injury early in the next match against Port.

Durdin - pick 16, Neilsen - pick 26, Vickers - Willis - pick 36 were all picked up in the 2014 draft. We snagged Preuss in the rookie draft.

McKay - pick 21, Clarke - pick 31, Hibberd - pick 33, Mountford - pick 60 were all picked up in the 2015 draft.

As you can see, we have recently focused on our defence with our best picks. They will all be good AFL players.

Our defence is in excellent shape and is basically set for the next 8 to 10 years, and yet you couldn't even mention one of these players in your list.

Ok, but there's a reason I didn't include players like Jack Silvagni, Harry McKay, Jarrod Pickett, Zac Fisher, Nick Graham, Ciaran Byrne etc etc

Yeah, an obvious reason.

Would've thought it was obvious why I didn't think Mountford, other McKay, Durdin, Hibberd etc didn't rate a mention.

North

Mountford - Has arrived. Permanent senior 22 player.
McKay - Needs another year (just like his brother). Likely to be a defender, not a forward.
Durdin - Will slot in full time this season. Hansen has been delisted to make way for him.
Hibberd - Injured

Carlton

Jack Silvagni - Wouldn't have played a game if not for his surname
Harry McKay - Needs at least another 12 months. Couldn't consolidate in a side with forward marking issues (Carlton-15th).
Jarrod Pickett - Underwhelming. Could get cut if he doesn't show up this season.
Zac Fisher - Has ability, but is very small & light. Will need luck.
Nick Graham - Currently a list filler that hasn't consolidated a spot. Very likely to be delisted.
Ciaran Byrne - Irish import with knee issues that has racked up 15 appearances in a bottom side over 3 seasons.

How would Kelly go carrying that midfield? Not one A grader in there. Cunnington is a solid C+ grader and Higgins on his day can play like an A grader but is probably more of a B-. Neither of them would be in the top 100 players in the competition. Who else do they have? Would be a depressing thought for Kelly knowing you're the only good midfielder in a side.

How did North find themselves in this position? A tiny battling club like that can't afford to be at the bottom at all, let alone for a long period. I am sensing some dark times ahead for that football club. Pressure to land Kelly is at an all time high after being snubbed by absolutely every other player that was considered 'gettable'.
When Cunnington is on he is just as good as Martin.

Would have been 3rd in your goal kicking if he played for your mob

Why do you even bother with this obvious troll utilising a Melbourne front?

Scroll straight past it and it will dry up and blow away to due the lack of attention it is clearly craving.

You are right.
So many oppo supporter just shit post all the time.
Whole place is like the bay.

5th on averages with midfielders breathing down his neck.

He wouldn't have gotten a game in our side. Period.

I don't like Cunnington at all but he's a good player - can hardly call him a C+ grader. Fantastic contested player and one of the best in the AFL when it comes to stoppage situations.

North's best players aren't bad, it's just a matter of their worst players being... well, very bad and poorly skilled. Goldstein/Preuss, Cunnington, Brown, Tarrant all form a pretty solid core. If you add to that Zeibell, Higgins and Wood there's a lot to work with. They just need depth players that can actually kick a ball, and one more legitimate star mid.

Maybe a classy user off half back, because they've got Mullet and Atley who are will never ever be that.
