Sound like the latter, apparently gave him a warning not to stir them up so likely about the satire dig at their supporters not having teeth before the game.

So the club wanted him, in the sheer excitement of a crucial goal, with 50,000 screaming fans, to take a deep breath and calm down? To not react?

Are they contending that him doing that made Port play better? Or made us play worse? What was the harm?

My eldest daughter has ADHD. One of the most important pieces of advice about how to manage her condition I got was from our paediatrician, who told me that the most difficult and fruitless thing you will ever try to do in your life is insist that someone be something they're not. She is who she is, and it's up to the people around her to cherish her, not demand she pretend to be something she's not.

It feels like a similar issue with Rachele. This is who he is. He's a loudmouth, he's an attention seeker. He's a bit of a brat. He's emotional. We can either accept that and find the best way to channel his immense talent... or we can chide him, insist that he stifle who he is, and publicly humiliate him when it doesn't work.

Absolutely disgraceful player management.

The only slightly positive thing that could result out of this is that the club absolutely implodes now and Nicks gets the sack. This is only the beginning of the off-season fallout.
I'd have more faith in this happening if this wasn't also clearly driven by the leadership group and the administrative staff.

Everyone in a position of power at the Crows thinks this was the right decision.

Should be easy to prioritise the sackings then.

I work as a tertiary educator and a huge amount of my job involves mentoring young adults.

I am simply flabbergasted. I acknowledge that we don't have the whole story here, but I'm struggling to find any justification for how poorly, and publicly, the leaders of the club have handled this. Even their attempts at damage control are utterly counterproductive.

I honestly cannot believe this. It's so tough to support a club that has proven itself to be so inept with so much regularity.

Not about him celebrating, I read it as stir them up with the teeth satire dig when he pointed to his teeth which was funny as.

As I said this morning, we lament that our club has coaches and administrators that have a low IQ, but what’s worse is that their EQ is even lower.

Dropping him is bad enough.

HAVING HIS TEAM MATES PUBLICALLY POUR SHIT ON HIM IS INCOMPREHENSIBLE.

If I'm Rash, I wouldn't even play SANFL this weekend - see ya later, losers.
Can you imagine if you were a recruit right now thinking about joining the Crows. Would you immediately be on the phone to your manager like or what.

Not about him celebrating, I read it as stir them up with the teeth satire dig when he pointed to his teeth which was funny as.

That was clearly a spur-of-the-moment thing. He has his hands cupped around his ears before it, I'm pretty sure someone just yelled something like "where's your teeth, Rachele?" and he pointed at them in response.

Again, he's just kicked a crucial goal and has 50,000+ fans either cheering or jeering him. His adrenaline would have been through the roof. Do we honestly expect him to calm down and not react in that moment?

If we do, then we don't understand who he is, or how to get the best out of him.

I'll bet our coaches gave him an absolute serve at half time. No wonder his second half wasn't as good. Rachele is someone who plays best when his confidence is high, not when his tail is between his legs.

Like I said this is only the beginning and the external pressure is only going to get louder. I still somewhat trust the board (perhaps I am being delusional) to make the right decision on his coaching future sooner rather than later and also to admit they made a mistake re-signing him.

it was a silly thing to say. For years, we've had the upper hand because they come out in the press and say 'We hate the Crows' and we just play the game. And he shouldn't have said it. But hopefully he'll learn. Obviously the rest of the team did not like it.
Then he gets pilloried in the media for saying it and following it up, and firing Port up.
And THEN - the media - who had hung shit on him for saying it in the first place, start carrying on about how badly he's being treated.
It's the last game of the season for us and it's a completely meaningless game and people are losing their minds about a matter of internal discipline.

Laird is the one who should have been dropped for publicly ridiculing a team mate.
