If we are going to compare players like Ginnivan to him. Can we at least compare what the two cost each club? He’s one of our highest ever draft picks. And that’s how he should be judged.
The media said Ginnivan has had an excellent season and Rachele stack up to him despite playing in a shit team and in a shit position and also not being 100% in the last 2-3 weeks. Collingwood stupidly accepted unders for Ginnivan as they wanted him out (not sure why) because they were recruiting Schultz.

Rachelle has been our most disappointing player for 2024, the player needs to take some ownership for his form.

It’s ok to say play more midfield, but he needs to improve his contest work and defensive efforts before he deserves more midfield minutes.

The coaches have got plenty wrong this year but I’m one that puts it on the players to be more professional and improve

Nah, Jones has been. He looked like it all clicked last year and on form hasn’t justified his selection at all this year.

Rachelle could be better but he’s going to go close to 30 goals.

In terms of draft pick, Jones wasn’t far behind Rachelle and has been in the system much longer

Depends if the coaching goes against you natural game, can be difficult to ajust because you are thinking about what is asked

Suggesting Rachele is playing poorly because Nick's is coach is simply blame shifting. He has to take a fair bit of responsibility for his own performances. Generally, he has been poor and non competitive this season.

Averaging 15 disposals - above average for forwards.

Averaging 5 contested possessions - above average for forwards.

Averaging 3 inside 50s - above average for forwards.

Averaging 1.3 goals - above average.

0.9 goal assists - above average.

2.3 shots at goal - above average.

5.5 score involvements - above average.

Numbers only fractionally behind Ginnivan’s despite playing in a vastly inferior team.

Apparently this player is also perfectly within his rights to decide whether or not to contest a ball based on whether he might get injured and the time left in the game according to his fan club. Non-negotiables don't apply to this delicate genius player.

He stopped trying on Sunday, and his opponent ran off him on numerous occassions. The club should not forget this.

If you're going after players not trying then Rory Laird should be your #1 target. Rachele needs to improve, but when you can see Rachele with a strapped knee out chasing someone then you know that guy is absolutely taking the piss.

Both Laird and Rash are taking the piss. Both are exhibiting very poor attitudes at the moment. One should know better. The other needs better role models.

If multiple players are exhibiting this, surely that’s on the coach.

Numbers, numbers, numbers, Pffft!
With Rachele, in particular, the eye test is what matters, and he fails that pretty badly.
Do you watch his matches and are you happy with what you see?

Why would Rachele need to try harder when Nicks sets the standard that 200 game players don't need to?

Agreed, if he can't find reason to try harder he should be back in the SANFL developing 'hunger' and a footballer's attitude. Can't have him playing over 80% game time and only laying one tackle again like he did against the Hawks on the weekend.
You'd cry like a stuck pig though if they did drop him and revert to attacking your default targets.

I see a player who has areas to work on but is consistently involved in creating scores and setting up play for us.

There is a difference between a player still figuring it out and having a poor season.

Reading a lot of comments from his detractors makes me hope that he goes to another club and dominates. Football is entertainment. Josh is a reason why I watch football - to be entertained. A lot of our supporter base deserve the stock standard, blue colour plodder that our coach seems to adore.
Its one of the reasons why AO was packed for Crows home games, when Eddie was at his peak for us during the mid 2010s.

AO was rocking. I miss those times and the atmosphere.

Patience. Rachele has an immense ceiling and is actually tracking pretty damn well.

Its still very early days, but I would suggest a comparison to Rankine is a little more fair. Both high draft picks, both very talented. Rankines age and years in the system in 2021 is equal to this year for Rachele. Rankine did miss all of 2019 - so finished 2022 at 48 games (Rachele is at 51 games).

Rankine 3rd Season (2021):11.8 touches, 2.8 marks, .9 goals, .6 behinds, 2.5 I50, DE 64.4&, 1.4 Clearances, .6 goal assists, 2.6 tackles, 3.8 score involvements. 180 meters gained.

Rankine 4th Season (2022): 13.5 touches, 2.2 marks, 1.6 goals, 1.2 behinds, 2.5 I50, DE 64.4&, 1.4 Clearances, 1 goal assists, 2.2 tackles, 6.2 score involvements. 232.70 meters Gained.

Rachele's 3rd Season (2024): 14.6 touches, 3.4 marks, 1.3 goals, .7 behinds, 3 I50, DE 67.8%, 1.2 Clearances, .9 goal assists, 2.1 tackles, 5.5 score involvements. 258 meters Gaines.

Shut your mouth.

24 goals and 17 assists and averaging 14.6 disposals playing primarily as a small half-forward type is not exactly a poor season. With Rachele it's more about poor individual moments, rather than being poor in general.

I don't think the issue is how Nicks has handled him. I think the issue is that he's the "cream on top" kind of player

Many on this board said the same about Rankine.
I think he can turn into a Bolton/Rankine clone which has the potential to be a top 3 player at our club.

who looks like a million bucks when the side is performing well, but struggles to get involved when things are going poorly. Unfortunately this season we've had more of the latter than the former.

This just isn't true.

He has kicked multiple goals in 7 games this year. One of those was a blowout the other 6 were all games we won/lost by 18 points or less (close games).

What are the chances Rash is done?

Goneski.

Leaving the nest.

Heading back home.

I feel like after the talking to he got for stating his beliefs around his CBAs … he’s signed out.

I know he’s injured after trying to put his whole leg through an opponent, but no way has he bought into what we are selling.

Super talented - will be in demand on the open market. Could get back to Victoria pretty easily I would have thought.

What to say to this! Almost as bad a call as those asking for Fog to be delisted 2-3 years ago

I will give you a couple of stats - I know eye test a little different and agree there are areas he needs to be better

Cyril Rioli career average 15.1 disposals, 1.3 goals, 4.6 tackles

Conner Rozee 3rd season 16 disposals, 2.9 tackles, 1 goal, 3.9 Score involvements (100 best in league)

Josh Rachele 2024 14.8 disposals 1.3 goals 2.1 tackles 5.5 score involvements (80th in league)

Now I think Rozee and Cyril have had pretty good careers - and as we saw on the weekend
With Josh having an average game - where we got sub 40 inside 50’s he still had 7 score involvements

He has some bad habits and at times lacks consistency - it’s called being a young player!

He's far too soft to dominate.

Hang on - I’m not saying he won’t be any good - I’m saying he could have had enough of Adelaide!!

ITT people saying "eye test" when they mean "bias" 👀

Rash is tracking very well in a side with abysmal mid-forward connection, very creative bloke... how many of our players would have dobbed that last goal against essington?

I'm more than happy to put my SOLID GOLD reputation on the line as a member of the Rash cheer squad. he's benjamin keays and I'm bearded clam

wait
