Judd gets 3 weeks, escapes attempted murder charge

Probably fair, though he shouldn't have a good record considering the Campbell Brown incident.

He was given 3 weeks, probably the same point allocation to as what Jeff Farmer received though the Wizard (god rest his soul) had a filthy record so he ended up with 4 weeks. For consistency sakes I am happy with the penalty.

Eyelid looks closed to me. And the finger looks like it is in the corner of the socket.

Don't get me wrong, I am not defending what he did for one second. But my understanding of eye gouging is forceful contact with the eyeball.

Does the AFL actually have a definition?

Eye-gouging is the act of pressing or tearing the eye using the fingers, other bodyparts, or instruments.

The eye doesn't have to be open, it almost cannot be open. Everyone automatically would attempt to close their eye-lid when force is made contact.

Dirty act, glad he got 3 weeks. Love to see Carlton attempt to challenge this and Judd get the full 3 weeks.

He didn't go for eye gouging.

Carlton captain Chris Judd claims his suspected gouge was martial arts move

Carlton captain Chris Judd's bizarre explanation for his facial contact with Brisbane Lion Michael Rischitelli is unlikely to see him spared from an eye-gouging charge.

Judd said he had made contact with Rischitelli's face during the Blues' loss to Brisbane, with footage clearly showing him with his hands in his opponent's eyes.

He described the incident as "dumb" on Sunday, but said instead of attempting to eye-gouge Rischitelli he was working on the Brisbane midfielder's pressure point.

If this is true then its worse than eye gouging, what a muppet

His reputation is in tatters, on Bigfooty anyway.

Yes, I agree. People generally try to keep their eyes open while they look directly at the sun, have a drink thrown in their face, or have their eyeball gouged.

Good to see Blues fans being honest.
2 years ago WestCoast fans (majority) were embarrassing of their defense of Judd.

Helped by the dodgy Hawthorn players and medical staff who lied under oath ;)

I agree that it wasn't eye gouging - I'm the one that originally posted that still that's plastered all over Bigfooty (which was I posted in response to a Carlton supporter saying it was nowhere near the eyes - it was, clearly, but I believe his explanation of pressure points or whatever). Having said that, I think two weeks is reasonable, you can't go poking a bloke like that any more than you can squirrel grip him.

The big casualty is Judd's reputation, which somewhat miraculously survived the Campbell Brown incident.

Thought one would learn - do it once and escape - thank the player who helped you get off and never do it again as your rep has been saved.

Do it again and be treated like a fool by fans from all footy sides. Next season when he returns the fans should wear an eye patch and call it the Judd protection device......

Gold! or maybe some of those swimming goggles!

Rischitelli is not amused.

Didnt see or hear any WCE supporters complain then - the real uproar only started after Brownie admitted that he lied. As I said in an earlier post you would of thought the Judd would of learnt - just shows that he is not that smart after all.

Well He definitely won't be earning his Visy $$ for the first 2 - 3 rounds of 2010.

Scumbag Player Scumbag Club.

P.S Thanks For Kennedy He's to decent a bloke to be at Carlton. :thumbsu:

So if the victim closes his eyes, it's not an eye gouge, but if they open them, it is?

Judd got off very lightly.

True, you would think that he was lucky to get away with it once and would have learned not to have done it again. Either that or he was just expecting people to lie for him again so he could get off scott free.

Between selling his soul to Carlton and his second gouging offense the reputation of mr C.Judd isn't what it used to be.

Your nt under oath at the tribunal surely? Its not the supreme court.

Why do you think Campbell Brown got fined for admitting he lied? Your still expected to tell the truth at the tribunal even though it's not the supreme court.

Compare the two cases that year of Jeff Farmer and Chris Judd-
-Daniel Pratt and the north Melbourne medicos present the evidence and get Farmer suspended for 6 weeks
-Campbell Brown and the Hawthorn medicos lied and Judd gets off scott free

Judd wouldn't have got 6 weeks as he didn't have as bad a record as Farmer but he could have been looking at significant weeks had the truth emerged.
