Hasn't Puma been a sponsor of the eagles since about they started, they havn't always made the jumpers but I think they've supplied boots and other stuff.

Would suck if Puma get out, I rekon they have the best jumper template.

My idea for a Saints preseason or training jumper. Based on the Footscray '54 design.

EDIT: During the Fremantle - Lions game, I saw Asics branding on one of the tiers signage. With Puma rumoured to be quitting the Aussie market (excluding Hawthorn), could Asics be the new WCE manufacturers?

The signage at Paterson's is changed between teams - Asics is the boot supplier for Fremantle this year hence the signage. At West Coast home games there are Puma signs. If you go mid-week there are no signs.

Plus that Puma rumour from three years ago was bollocks then and is bollocks now.

Given the precendents set by Essendon and Carlton in respect of Clash jumpers, I see no reason why Melbourne should'nt be allowed to simply wear and All red jumper as we had done previously. The white is shit and does not represnet the MFC in any way, in fact it detracts from the branding the club is trying to build. All for the jumper below getting a run.....

The sun rays is original aswell and it suits the team better as you know the team is called the suns not the waves.

Sydney's not called the Opera Houses either. But so long as the symbol used evokes thoughts of the home area (Opera house = harbour of Sydney, wave = beaches of the Gold Coast) in the fans then it's a reasonable option.

don't know if anyone noticed but the freo game on tv looked like they have painted the eagles race yellow

Yeah I was at the Port game a couple of weeks back and it was all yellow. I guess they are trying to go for a more "Eagles" look. The old race had more images of sponsors logos than players

Home, yes, good.
Clash, DEAR GOD NO. I'm desperately hoping we ditch the head next season, I blame that ...thing for our current shiteness.
well IMO i like it and i dont think they would ditch the jersey after 2 years:thumbsu:

Opera House? I thought that was a swan's arse on their guernsey.

lol. always thought this too. to me it always looked like nothing but a little fluffy swan butt until my sydney supporting mate showed me.

Fair point, I'm just bitter about a lot of decisions that were made regarding the identidy of the club, which I think shows in my posts.

That's fair enough, everyone has their own opinion. But this jumper has been pretty poorly received and it's associated with our biggest stars leaving and the club bottoming out. Personally, I hate it. We should be using yellow as our clash colour, not white. Something like this would be great and I would wear with pride:

But the AFL and its clubs aren't smart enough to inverse jumpers, Mero. ;)
Imagine what it could do for Richmond and Essendon.

It's really only us and Carlton who started it, and now that North's caught on (albeit for what looks to be one game only) hopefully some more clubs can follow suit.

Hawks would have been first when they went to the mustard-pot jumper in 1933.
