Re: Pies still need to earn back to back honors

Seriously i can't see any team troubling the pies this year. They are just to bloody good with superstars on every line.

Its hard to say it but they will become the first team to win every game for the season

Superstars?? is that you Jon Ralph? ;)

Give them credit for playing smart & discipline footy minus the skill errors most opposition make week in week out. Agree they'll be tough to roll but the season is a marathon not a sprint. Staying healthy and having depth goes a long way to reaching the GF. Plenty things can happen between now and the final week that can railroad their back-to-back mission.

Serious question. Will there be an asterix next to Collingwood on the 2011 premiership cup due to how uncompetitive the rest of the competition were? Tainted flag?

I think I remember them saying this about Essendon in 2001(1999 no, North were a serious threat that year) and Geelong in 2008.

Good call Noddy. I think the Blues were getting that 'invincible tag' until they copped a hammering in back to back weeks vs StK & Swannies but the 1995 Blues were never gonna let the Cats get within reach. Dominating performance.

I'll just prepare a double cream cheesecake for the occasion. That oughta slow down their tenacity and confuse the rest of us. It is a bit soft but I am sure they will overcome the soft foot and bury the rest of us in time. Just can never be sure.

Hawthorn usually beat collingwood, we're still the last team to of beaten them.

You flogs will never let that go will you? The last game of the season, Pies had already wrapped up top spot while your lot were fighting for positions at the bottom of the eight. It was obvious we travelled at half pace and yet your mob could only finish us in the dying minutes and even then had Beams capitalised we would have beaten you.

If you bring that up, bring up the fact we lost to the lions before that. Oh and that we smashed you by 60+ points in the meeting before that.

It's early day & injuries occur but going on the standard of play b/w Geelong/Hawthorn, the gap is further than I thought.

Hawthorn will win it if they make the GF.

They play well on big stages.
Its funny everyone talks down Collingwood and how they might get hit with a few injuries and not that unbeatable

Hawthorn are 1 injury away from being out of contention completely, never seen a side more reliant on 1 player to kick a bag every week to win

But then again I suppose for the 60% of AFL supporters who are living in hell right now they need to cling onto some hope, no matter how unlikely it is, that someone can beat Collingwood :D

I wouldnt use that game as an example. Cats and Hawks are always close; even in 09 when Hawthorn were shit it was still an immensely close game. They just hate each other like none other.

What a stupid thread.

Geelong have beaten Freo at home, Sydney at home, St Kilda and Hawthorn. All teams talked up as challengers pre-season.

Collingwood have beaten Carlton (most overrated team in the comp) and Essendon.

ITT- bulldogs fan realizes dogs suck and have no chance of winning a flag this year so he labels Collingwood unbeatable...
Hawks, Geelong, Freo, Essendon and Carlton all have the capabilities to win this year.

OK.

I love this thinking. Geelong won't be able to challenge, yet two teams Geelong has beaten (Fremantle and Hawthorn) will? How does that magic happen?

You know like certain teams match up better on Collingwood, you guys got flogged in the prelim, i'm not sure where i said Fremantle will challenge? and Hawthorn beat the Pies last year.
